A lovely lunch and afternoon spent at the Croydon Masonic Hall where OLD PALACE LODGE welcomed 48 members and guests. The customary lunch Quiz, was won by a table who nominated Myla to receive the 'crowning' as Quiz Champion. Myla, the daughter of the Lodge's Inner Guard beamed with joy as the crown was placed on her head to cheering and applause. The events was organised by W.Bro. John Smith who was assisted by W.Bro. Dave Jarvis as the organiser of the Quiz. The raffle raised £300 for charity.

W.Bro. Peter Cartwright, W.Bro. Andrew Prescott, and W.Bro. Peter Callistan attended the funeral service of fellow Lodge member, W.Bro. Tony Pattison's wife Catherine. The service was held in the Holy Family RC Church, Warlingham, Surrey conducted by Monsignor Malachi Keegan.
After the Committal, mourners went to the Farleigh Golf Club for refreshments where a childhood friend of Catherine spoke about their time together in school. This was followed by another friend and past colleague who retold of their work and fun times as schoolteachers. With emotion Tony followed, saying how much he missed his wife especially as her death was around the Christmas period and the anniversary of Cathy's 76th birthday.
Myself and Peter recall our memories of Cathy at Croydon Millenary Lodge Ladies' Festivals. Andrew had known Cathy when he stayed with Cathy's mother Irma and the welcome he received over 26 years ago. Cathy was a very gracious woman and it was a pleasure to be with her. R.I.P. Cathy.
Rowland Bros. attended.
