Bangladesh Welfare Association Croydon (BWAC) is a voluntary charity organisation by a group of Bangladeshi and other Ethnic Black Minority people living and working in Croydon. Approximately, 5000 British Bengali people are residing and working in the London Borough of Croydon. BWAC was set up in

early 1984 for the fast growing Bengali community whom have been suffering from multiple deprivations. It is most likely due to the impact of Ignorance existing in the community. High levels of language barriers

Poor education & unemployment

Poor housing & health

Overcrowding & poverty

Racial harassment

Cultural & social imbalance

These conditions resulted Bengali community disadvantaged and under achieved. All these have compounded their problems and consequently they are excluded in participating from the community & have inadequate access to council’s main services stream. Executive Committee Members 2019 – 2021

BWAC arranged an AGM, Mayor of Croydon Sherwan Chowdhury's reception and Cultural function yesterday. This was attended by Shadow Minister Sarah Jones MP, Mayor of Croydon Sherwan Chowdhury Cllr, Councillors, leader's of the community, members and Life members.

We really appreciated seeing everyone who took the time to attend this function, this was my last meeting as the President od BWAC.

BWAC EC ELECTION 2021- 2023

ASSALAMUALAIKUM,
Dear all Members and Life members, we would like to announce the following:

• BWAC Election will be held on Sunday 28th November 2021at BWAC office. Voting will be opening from 11am to 4pm.
• Nomination submission date 22nd October Friday 2pm- 4pm. However, if anyone wants to submit their nomination before the date, please contact us. The nomination form will be available in the office.
• Nomination withdrawal date 29th October 2021 Friday 2pm -3pm.

Anyone registered their membership six weeks before the election date will be eligible for voting or starting as a candidate. All with guideline of BWAC limited consultation.

Nomination fees (non-refundable):

• Chair(president) £600
• Secretary £500
• Treasurer £400
• EC members £150
