So this day last year we set out on our final leg of our charity walk of the Tarka Trail heading back into croyde via Morte Hoe and Woolacombe and finally around Baggy Point to finish. I think from all of our point of view we would have had a chance to reflect on Dean, thinking about him as we journeyed through our challenge and hoping he was proud of our efforts. Steve and Richie were a real strength for me on our trip, they lost a dear friend but held me up along the way, I hope in some way I reciprocate that and the memories we have live on long. I cant finish without mentioning all the support we had from Romany, Emma, Carla and all the kids, the messages from my kids in particular broke me, so full of emotion and it gave me the extra boost I needed. Without the support network helping us with Tents, food and encouragement every day i really wonder how much harder it couldnof been. We did this for CALM but also I think for ourselves, to honour someone that should really be here, not gone. Su***de in men is alarmingly high, and more needs to be done about mental health so we can understand it. We raised 10 thousand pounds for our charity in the end, and that was all down to you. You who gave up 10 pounds here and there or 20, or 30, I cannot express what that means to all of us, and for Steve's company Boeing to top up our final total with 4000 pounds plus to give us our final figure was incredible.
So something positive came out of something none of us ever thought would happen. Dean, we all love you and miss you every day, that goes without saying, I hope your spirit lives on through us all and I'm sure that soon another challenge will come and we can raise more money and awareness.
