Can you help?

We need YOUR HELP to save our local heritage varieties of apples and pears 🍎🍐

From the 1700s (at least!) until the advent of supermarkets in the 1950s, the area around south Leyland, Croston and Eccleston was renowned for its orchards but, sadly, many of these orchards that defined our region have been lost.

With them, many of our heritage varieties of apples and pears which could only be found in this region.

We need your help to locate any old fruit trees from this area, so we're able to propagate them in our orchard and preserve them for generations to come.

Do you know of any old fruit trees from this area? If so, please click on the link in the comment section and fill out the form and I'll be in contact in due course.

Many thanks in advance!

Liam

Wow!! Thank you to everyone who supported the Scouts café yesterday.

Bringing together the community is at the heart of Croston Show's ethos. Seeing people come together yesterday; sharing gardening tips, catching up on life events, helping our scouts buy new camping equipment, it is amazing to see. Thank you!

Thank you, thank you to everyone who made today happen

To the people who brought carrots, handicrafts, photographs, took entries, made brews, judged entries, wrote prize cards, moved tables and everything else it takes to put on Croston Show.

There will be lots of posts in the next few days with prize winners, all the amazing entries, the jaw dropping queue!!! But for tonight, feet up and a chilled glass

Thank you 💚
