Do you have some spare time and would like to help your local community?

Home-Start CHAMS is looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help support our parent and child groups in Burgess Hill and Crawley.

No previous experience is necessary — we’ll provide the training and support you need. Our next training course is the 4th November and the 11th November 2026

If you enjoy being around families and young children and would like to make a difference in your local community, we’d love to hear from you!

Around 30 volunteers and staff attended an informative and interactive training session yesterday, delivered by the Sussex Partnership Perinatal Mental Health Team and led by Dr Sarah Gordon, Clinical Psychologist with the North West Sussex Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Team, alongside an expert by experience, who was recently supported by the team.

The session explored a range of perinatal mental health presentations, helping attendees to better understand how to recognise signs and symptoms, deliver trauma informed practice and access available specialist services.

Topics included mental health during the perinatal period, bonding and attunement, as well as looking at neurodivergence. The training provided valuable insights, practical guidance, and opportunities for discussion, in order to better equip staff and volunteers to support families during this challenging period of their lives.

Thank you to the facilitators for sharing their expertise and experience, and to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussions.

A big thank you to People’s Partnership for their kind donation of 30 notebooks. 📓

The donation was supported through the CAN/RPD foundation, which connects charities with local businesses to help meet specific needs and bridge the gaps.

It’s a great example of how local businesses and charities can work together to make a practical difference.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our session at the County Mall Under the Sea event and stopped by to say hello to our Home-Start CHAMS team! 🐠🌊💙

It was wonderful to meet so many local families, chat about the support we offer, and be part of such a fun community event. We loved seeing all the smiles, creativity and excitement throughout the day!

A big thank you to County Mall for inviting us to be involved. Events like these are a fantastic way to bring our community together, and we're so grateful to have been part of it..
