Home-Start CHAMS

Home-Start CHAMS We are a registered charity supporting local families to give their children the best start in life. Home-Start schemes are rooted in the community they serve.

We are managed locally but are supported by a national organisation, Home-Start UK, which offers direction, training, information and guidance to schemes and ensures consistent and quality support for parents and children. Home-Start has a proven, lasting, positive impact on the development of children and the health and welfare of the family.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Horsham District Council for our recent community grant award, helping us at Home-Start CHAMS to support local families in need across Horsham.

This funding will make a real difference in helping us continue to provide our vital home-visiting support service and local parent and child groups, including our Little Starters groups for parents and children under 3, as well as support for families with multiple birth children under the age of 3.

Alyson Smith, Business & Fundraising Manager at Home-Start CHAMS, said:

"We are incredibly grateful to Horsham District Council for their support. Grants like this mean so much to our charity and the families we work alongside every day. This funding will help us continue providing essential support, connection, and reassurance to local parents with young children when they need it most."

Thank you for supporting local families

Alyson Smith our Business and Fundraising Manager visited our Little Starters Group on Tuesday 12th May held in the Hassocks Hall at The Kings Church, Burgess Hill.

Little Starters provides a safe and welcoming environment for parents and children under the age of three, offering friendship, support, and parenting guidance.

Alyson said "I was pleased to be joined by Brenda Williams from Burgess Hill Town Council, who visited the group, met with parents and children, and observed the session in action. The council has kindly awarded a small grant in support of this Group.
I also had the opportunity to meet Angie Bee, Family Outreach Team Leader at The Kings Church.
The session was well attended, with eight families present, including a new mother with twins born in November, alongside other mothers, children, and siblings."

Last week, Deanna, ASDA Crawley's Community Champion, visited our New Parents Connect Group, bringing along a variety of healthy snacks for the children.

Our new parents connect group offers friendship, support and parenting advice for new parents with babies aged 0-12 months. Running Thursdays 9.30am -11am – term time only.

Lisa, our Scheme Manager said "It was wonderful to welcome Deanna, Asda Crawley’s Community Champion, to our New Parent Connect Group on Thursday. The snacks went down a treat, and it was great to share why Home-Start CHAMS means so much to our families."

Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your local community?

We’re looking for new Trustees to help shape the strategic direction of Home‑Start CHAMS, a local family support charity dedicated to helping families with young children through challenging times.

As a Trustee, you’ll use your skills, experience and perspective to help guide our future, strengthen our impact and ensure we continue to support families who need us most. We welcome people from a wide range of backgrounds. Experience in areas such as working with families or young children, fundraising or finance, would be helpful, but is by no means essential.

You don’t need previous trustee experience — just a commitment to our values, an interest in our work and the ability to think strategically and work collaboratively.

If you’d like to be part of a supportive, purpose‑driven team and help create lasting change for local families, we’d love to hear from you.

Come and join us — your contribution can make a real difference.
