North East Hearts with Goals

North East Hearts with Goals Raising awareness and money towards placing life saving defibrillators throughout the North East. We don't get paid.

Supporting families of children with serious heart conditions North East Hearts with Goals was started by 2 sisters in law Kelly Best & Christine Stephenson in March 2013. Fuelled from losing Kelly's husband & Christine's brother Neil in 2003. We've come such a long way and it is very hard work but so rewarding. We raise the funds to place defibs ourselves with the help of the local communities.

Everything is done in the very little free time that we have. If you feel you can help us please contact Kelly or Christine at [email protected]

Today is a very special day for me as it marks 10 years since I started SecureTech Systems North East Limited.

It’s hard to believe that a decade has passed since I took the leap and started the business. Looking back, there have been plenty of highs, challenges, lessons learned, and achievements that have shaped both me and the company along the way.

While I’m incredibly proud to have reached this milestone, I know I haven’t done it alone. One of the biggest reasons for our success is the amazing team I have around me. Their hard work, professionalism, loyalty, and commitment to delivering the best service possible have helped make SecureTech Systems what it is today. I’m genuinely grateful to work alongside such a fantastic group of people, and this milestone belongs to them just as much as it does to me.

I’d also like to thank all of our customers, suppliers, friends, and family who have supported us over the last 10 years. Your trust, recommendations, and continued support have meant everything and have helped us grow year after year.

Starting a business is never easy, and reaching 10 years is something I’m incredibly proud of. Taking a moment to look back at how far we’ve come is humbling, but I’m even more excited about what lies ahead.

To everyone who has been part of the journey—thank you.

10 years of SecureTech Systems North East Limited. Here’s to the next 10.

🚨 A Cramlington man is being praised after helping save the life of a stranger who suffered a cardiac arrest on a busy Newcastle street.

24-year-old Sam Collard sprang into action after hearing calls for help in Byker, immediately calling an ambulance and performing CPR for around 10–15 minutes until paramedics arrived.

The man, identified as Barry, was taken to hospital and later woke from a medically induced coma. His family have thanked Sam, saying his quick actions saved them from heartbreak.

Sam, who had previously received CPR and first-aid training through his employer, said he was simply doing what anyone should do in that situation and hopes the incident encourages more people to learn lifesaving skills.

💜 Last night, during a friendly match, Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch.

The coverage that followed highlights an ongoing problem. The media continues to get the language wrong when reporting cardiac events.

Terms like cardiac arrest, heart attack, and other conditions are often used interchangeably when they are very different. That does not just affect accuracy; it shapes how the public understands what has actually happened.

In this piece, we look at what the headlines are getting wrong and why clear, correct terminology matters.

Better understanding starts with getting the basics right.

You are an amazing human Sam, well done. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This is Sam Collard. He has been hailed a hero for saving the life of a man who collapsed in a Newcastle café 👏

The 24-year-old was on Shields Road in Byker for his job as a removal porter when he leapt into action after hearing "a commotion from across the road".

Sam raced over the street to see a man lying on the floor unconscious. He dialled 999 and began administering CPR for around 10-15 minutes, though admits it "felt like an hour". 😰

Sam said: "It's a scary thing, it's nothing that you're used to, but obviously I couldn't let him lie on the floor and not give him any help. I couldn't live with that if I knew someone had passed away and I'd done nothing to help."

Paramedics arrived and took over from Sam and used the defibrillator on the gentleman known as Barry, who was taken to hospital where he was placed in a medically induced coma.

Sam has been in contact with the Barry's family who have confirmed he has woken up and is starting his recovery from the ordeal. 🫶

Sam, from Cramlington, has been really humble despite his life-saving heroics. He added: "I wasn't trying to be a hero, I just saw a chance where I could help somebody.

"If that was one of my family members I would hope that someone would do the same, especially if you trained and you feel you've got the confidence to do it.

"Hopefully it encourages people not only to go and learn CPR, but even just to be confident enough to not be afraid if you're in that situation because it can happen to anyone at any time.

"To hear that Barry's on the mend and he's starting his recovery journey is the main thing."

Well done Sam. Not all heroes wear capes ❤️

90% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests are fatal without intervention - but CPR can triple a person's chance of survival 💙

The first few minutes matter most, and you don't need to be a professional to make a difference. This CPR & AED Awareness Week, learn the steps, because being ready is something every one of us can do.
