A New Chapter: Introducing United in Memory ⚽️

We have some exciting news to share regarding the future of our club. After much reflection and many conversations behind the scenes, Sands ABC FC is officially evolving. Moving forward, we will be known as United in Memory.

Why the Change?

Our journey started with a dedicated focus on supporting Sands, a charity incredibly close to our hearts. We are immensely proud of the awareness and funds we’ve raised together for such a vital cause.

However, as we’ve grown, so has our vision. We realized that our platform could do even more if we widened our lens. By transitioning to United in Memory, we are shifting from supporting a single national charity to a broader mission: supporting multiple local charities and initiatives across the ABC (Armagh City, Banbridge, and Craigavon) region.

What "United in Memory" Stands For
The name represents our core values:

United: Our strength is in our community. We are players, families, and fans coming together as one.

Memory: We continue to play in honor of those we’ve lost, ensuring their legacies spark positive change in our own backyard.

What Stays the Same?
While the name on the badge is changing, the heart of the club remains.

Our Passion: We are still the same dedicated team on the pitch.

Our Roots: We remain deeply committed to the ABC region.

Our Impact: Every goal and every match will still be driven by the desire to give back.

Looking Ahead

By supporting local, we can see the direct impact of our efforts in our own towns and neighborhoods. Whether it’s mental health resources, local hospices, or youth support, United in Memory is here to make a difference where it's needed most.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Let’s make this next chapter our most impactful one yet.

Many thanks to our friends Sands United FC Dungannon for travelling up for todays game to mark .

Todays match was definitely the closest encounter of our trilogy, with the visitors leaving with a 5-3 victory.
A very tight, competitive match from start to finish and all played in the right spirit. We're looking forward to heading down to try and beat you on your own turf... at the end of the day, its about getting bereaved dads out playing the beautiful game for our beautiful angels.

It was tough choice for our man of the match, as every member of the squad had such good performances, but after bagging 2 goals (and absolutely fluffing his hat trick to level the score!!), it goes to midfielder Gareth Higgins , well played Higgi, pity about your third...
Also, well done to Lorcan for scoring our other goal from long range.

Many Thanks to Craigavon City Football Club for giving us somewhere to play, and referee Jamie Patterson for officiating the game today.

1 more sleep till the big game!!

As draws to a close, 2 teams of bereaved dads will be playing for their Angels to mark the occasion.

This highly anticipated match is part 3 of a trilogy where, up until now, Sands United FC Dungannon have came out on top. We hope to change that tomorrow…but no matter what the score is, the charity will be the winner on the day 🧡💙

We would appreciate all the love and support we can muster to cheer on the lads.
Call down if you’re at a loose end.

Craigavon City pitch, Drumgor.

Friday night lights @ Peoples Park.

We had a great turnout of lads tonight for our weekly kickabout, to mark in Portadown.

A tense battle of ‘the oul boys’ verses ‘the young uns’ saw the veterans knock in a couple of well worked goals to take a healthy lead. I believe it got to 5-1 at one stage. With youth on their side though, (and the oul boys battle weary and tired legs giving up), they clawed it back to 5-5.

A great evenings craic all round, and good preparation for when our friends Sands United FC Dungannon travel up the motorway for our match next weekend.

If you fancy a kickabout with other bereaved dads, we’re at Peoples Park Portadown next Friday 8-9. Call down 🧡💙

Best of luck to Lee who is taking part in the 5 peaks challenge in aid of Sands NI (Stillbirth And Neonatal Death Support) tomorrow morning!

Lee's story

-Northern Ireland

Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, operates across the UK: supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby; working in partnership with health professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care; and promoting improvements in practice and funding research that could help to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.

Specifically, Sands directly supported a colleague of Northern Ireland who's family lost their Angel Baby James. Sands funded the private bereavement suite in Daisy Hill Hospital where the family were given a dignified and private delivery of baby James including the opportunity to spend the evening with James. This was such a precious time for them to start their grieving. The Sands charity have gone on to continue support the family with events such as fathers of lost babies football evenings and supporting content for the family when in need of support. Like many, Sands have been an incredible support to many families, and this should be recognised and given as much support as possible for Sands to continue as a charity.

We depend on the amazing energies of our supporters to raise the vital funds that we need to deliver the wide range of services that we offer. -Northern Ireland
