🎮 YOUTH WORKES AND VOLUNTEERS WANTED! 🎮
Job Roles: Chief Creeper Wrangler, Roblox Shenanigans Supervisor, Discord Guardian & General Gaming Enthusiast! ❤️😂
Do you love gaming, online communities and the idea of spending a few hours a week with a brilliant bunch of neurodivergent young people?
Well, I may have the perfect opportunity for you!
We’re looking for volunteers to join DigiTribe and help us run our online clubs and communities using Minecraft, Roblox, Discord and other game - no experience needed!
And we have a paid role where we are looking for an experienced youth worker, with experience in online communities.
Whether you can give a few hours a week, help with one regular session or bring a particular gaming skill or interest, I’d love to hear from you.
🎮 Things you may find yourself doing:
⛏️ Joining Minecraft sessions and being given a very detailed tour of a base, house, farm, shop, underground bunker or something that has apparently taken several weeks/months to build.
💥 Offering sympathy and support after a Creeper-related disaster.
🎲 Playing Roblox games you’ve never heard of and trying to work out what you’re supposed to be doing before you die at the hands of the group.
💬 Chatting with young people on Discord and helping us keep things friendly, welcoming and safe.
🎧 Joining sessions where some young people talk loads, some type in chat, some keep cameras off and some mostly communicate through the game itself.
👀 Keeping an eye out for someone who has gone a bit quiet, dropped away from the group or might just need someone to chec in with them.
😂 Getting involved in conversations about memes, your favourite biome, Minecraft drops, YouTubers, Fortnite, game updates and things you absolutely did not expect to be discussing that evening.
❤️ Helping a young person make friends, build confidence and feel like they’ve found somewhere they actually belong.
Our young people are into all sorts of games, platforms and online communities.
So if you have a particular gaming obsession, please tell us.
If you’ve spent hundreds or possibly thousands of hours on a game and occasionally wondered what possible useful purpose that could ever serve, this may finally be your moment. 😂

Apart from finally being able to justify your gaming hours, quite a lot!
❤️ You get to be part of a community of awesome young people and made a real difference to their lives.
For some of our young people, online spaces are where they feel most comfortable being themselves.
They might find face-to-face groups difficult.
They might be anxious.
They might be home educated or out of school.
They might find speaking to people difficult.
They might communicate through Minecraft far more easily than they ever would sitting around a table.
Our sessions provide a welcoming, 'come as you are' community of friends.
Sometimes just turning up, playing alongside someone and being there consistently can make a much bigger difference than you realise.

As volunteers, depending on what you’re interested in, we can help you learn more about:
• Digital youth work
• Online safeguarding
• Supporting neurodivergent children and young people
• Discord moderation and online community management
• Running Minecraft and Roblox activities
• Recognising when a young person might need some extra support when you are online and not with that young person in person
• Using gaming for connection, confidence and creativity
• Co-designing activities with young people
• Understanding that participation and engagement doesn’t always mean talking, turning a camera on or joining in in the way adults expect
Whether you’re thinking about youth work, education, SEND, games, tech, community work or simply fancy doing something worthwhile with skills you already have, you’re very welcome.
🥰 Who are we looking for?
People who want to make a difference to neurodivergent young people’s lives.
You don’t need previous youth work experience for a volunteer role.
You do need to be kind, reliable, patient, sensible and have a sense of humour.
It helps if you actually like gaming too.
You might be a student.
You might work in tech.
You might be a parent.
You might be retired.
You might be neurodivergent yourself.
You might have never volunteered anywhere before.
You might have been gaming since the days of ZX48k Spectrum being the GOAT. (It still is).
🛡️ Important:
We work with children and young people, so safeguarding comes first.
You’ll get an induction, safeguarding training, platform training and, guidance and support from our team, we follow the NSPCC safer recruitment process and do an Enhanced DBS check.
💷 And for experienced digital youth workers...
We also have paid work available.
If you already have experience in digital youth work, online youth provision, gaming groups, Discord communities or youth work with strong gaming and online experience, I’d really like to hear from you too.
We’re especially interested in people who understand neurodivergence and understand that camera off does not mean disengaged, silence does not mean someone isn’t participating, and online friendships are real friendships.
⚠️ A little warning...
You may experience:
🎮 Downloading games you never thought you' be playing
⛏️ Developing strong opinions about most and least favourite Minecraft blocks.
💬 Opening Discord to find 6767 messages about 67
🏆 Being absolutely destroyed at a game by a 12-year-old.
🎧 Spending ten minutes trying to work out what everyone is talking about.
👀 Being shown something in Minecraft and having no idea whatsoever how they built it.
❤️ Watching a young person who didn't speak when they first joined gradually start chatting and joking with their online friends.
❤️ Seeing someone find their tribe.
❤️ Realising that a few hours of your time can mean everything to somebody else.
