A huge thank you to our brilliant MineMania server administrator, Whz.

On Tuesday, Minecraft chat suddenly stopped working in the UK and for some people outside of the UK following a Minecraft update.

For our MineMania Minecraft server members, losing contact with their friends can cause severe emotional dysregulation and isolation. It also meant they could not communicate during our non-Zoom sessions or play with friends outside the sessions.

Whz immediately got to work and coded a solution that allowed everyone to chat again, with no confusing client-side mods for families to install.

Without Whz's expertise, we could not run MineManiaas we do. His work supports far more than a Minecraft server. It supports friendships, families and a safe community where neurodivergent young people can belong.

We were amazed by how quickly he solved it. His skill, dedication and commitment make a huge difference to our members every day.

We can now chat as normal and everyone is happy!

We have exciting news! 🤩 We have been funded by the Heart of England Community Foundation to run low-demand, interest-led, relaxed, social events for autistic teenagers on Fridays - both a daytime session for teens who are EOTAS/Home Ed/ experience EBSA, and an after school session. From our Hub in Halesowen.

⏰ Sessions will run from September, at 11am - 2pm and from 5pm- 7pm. Watch this space for the start date coming soon!

What will we do? We will be led by the interests of the young people who come.

We will have loads of things to get started - NOT tutoring in these things - we provide resources for young people to discover and learn for themselves:

- Making/tinkering with wood/foam creations for cosplay or making of Things

-Laptops for our Steam PC Cafe / Coding / MineMania Minecraft Java Server

- Xbox and Switch

- Midi Controllers / FL Studio / Ableton Intro

- Board games

-Pokemon

- Art and crafts

-Keyboard & Electric Guitars

- Comfy space to relax

👉 Friday Fun Club - we will be moving to a different day so watch this space

Thank you so much to of England Community Foundation for their generous funding to make this possible!

We had a lovely time at over 13s home ed social. The young people were busy on a dungeons and dragons campaign and the grown ups enjoyed Marks Art Club! I we repurposed canvases from a charity shop and tried using charcoal and white wax ❤️ Totally therapeutic! 😍 I didn’t get a photo of the Ghosts On Holiday!🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

🔔 We have loads of room left for any gamers / board games enthusiasts or art lovers who would like to come to our social for home ed teenagers! Come along! We have consoles, a Java Minecraft server and Steam PC Cafe 🕹️👾🎧

We some some great news for the summer hols!

Creative Active Lives CIC are hosting two DigiTribe sessions during the summer holidays, exclusively for Autism West Midlands, at our Hub in Halesowen.

The session is suitable for Autistic Teens age 13 – 17 who have an interest in:

🤩 Console Gaming

🤩 Mine Craft on our MineMania Java server

🤩 PC Gaming on our Steam PC Cafe Server - let me know any games you like. At the moment I have Subnautica, Counter Strike 2, Among Us, Team Fortress 2, Eve Online, Apex Legends,Destiny 2 -this might change!)

🤩 Virtual Reality

🤩 Digital Music Production and Art

🤩 Lego

🤩 Board Games

This is a great opportunity to connect with others who share similar interests, in a safe supported environment.

There is no pressure to interact, and teens are welcome to bring their own devices, earphones, games, comforts, and fidget items. For health and safety reasons, we ask that parents stay on site during the session.

We have a walkthough on our YouTube, Ill pop the link in the comments so you can see what it looks like - a lot of people tell me that helps a lot with anxiety. It's actually a bit out of date so I will make a new one on Wednesday!

Booking is essential via Autism West Midlands - link in the comments

Parents of Roblox fans, I need your help!

Our current Roblox Club is full and we have a waiting list, so I'm looking at starting a second small online group.

The club runs on Zoom for chat alongside Roblox, with a maximum of 6 young people so it stays friendly, supportive and not too overwhelming.

Young people choose the games each week and we usually play 2 to 4 different games on our private servers.

I'm looking at either:

🎮 Monday 5pm to 6pm
🎮 Tuesday 5pm to 6pm

Would either of these work for your family?

Please comment below with your preferred day, or both if either would work.

A quick note about pricing, as I've had a few questions about this.

Sessions are £10 each. From that we pay VAT, payment processing fees, corporation tax, payroll costs, holiday pay, pension contributions, National Insurance and the costs of running private Roblox servers.

We also pay trained youth workers to plan, prepare and deliver the sessions safely.

We work hard to keep costs as low as possible while ensuring the clubs remain sustainable and high quality.

We also offer free activities, including two Minecraft non-Zoom socials each week, and a free Code Club launching next month.
