🌑☀️ SOLAR ECLIPSE – WEDNESDAY 12 AUGUST 2026 ☀️🌑

Something exciting to look out for this evening! A partial solar eclipse will be visible across the UK, including here in Coventry.

📍 Coventry timings:
🌘 Eclipse begins – around 6:13pm
🌑 Maximum eclipse – around 7:10pm
🌘 Eclipse ends – around 8:03pm

At maximum, a large part of the Sun will be covered, making it a fantastic event to experience.

👀 PLEASE WATCH SAFELY

It is NOT safe to look directly at the Sun, even during a partial eclipse, and ordinary sunglasses do not provide enough protection.

If you don’t have certified eclipse glasses, you can safely enjoy the eclipse using indirect viewing, such as a simple pinhole projector. You can even use a colander!

🔭 Colander method:
Stand with your back to the Sun and hold a colander so sunlight shines through the holes onto a white surface or the ground. Each hole will project a tiny image of the Sun. As the eclipse progresses, the little circles will become crescent shapes 🌙

❗ Never look through the colander towards the Sun, only look at the projected images.

🌞 Heatwave Notice for Mercia Therapy Centre Members 🌞

Extreme temperatures are expected across Coventry and Warwickshire this week, with highs of up to 35°C.

While the centre is cool, we understand that hot weather can aggravate certain conditions and make travelling or attending appointments more difficult. If you feel unable to make your appointment, we completely understand, we just kindly ask that you let us know as far in advance as possible.

For those still planning to attend, we’ll have plenty of chilled bottled water available in the fridge for just 50p each to help keep you hydrated.

Please take care of yourselves, stay cool, and we look forward to seeing you if you’re able to make it 💙
