πŸ’™ Our First Adoption Story – Major πŸ’™πŸΎ

When we opened New Leash Of Life Dog Rescue back in April, the very first dog through our doors was Major, a beautiful young German Shepherd, just under a year old.

If we're honest, it was a daunting time. We were only just starting out, with minimum foster homes lined up and especially none suitable for a big strong dog. Then one of our incredible, experienced foster carers stepped forward and changed everything.

Major had very little socialisation, almost no training, and was a lot of hard work. She dedicated a whole month to him, giving him the time, patience, structure and love he needed to begin his new life.

Fast forward to today, and Major has been in his forever home for two weeks. His new family absolutely adore him, and he loves them just as much. They're continuing his training, and when I saw him last night to complete his adoption, I was honestly speechless. He was like a completely different dog. The progress he's made is incredible.

Major will always hold a special place in our hearts as the very first dog to come into New Leash of Life Dog Rescue, and our very first adoption success πŸ’™

Thank you to everyone who has been part of Major's journey. This is exactly why we do what we do, and we can't wait to help many more dogs find their own new life. πŸ’™

πŸ’™ Welcome to the New Leash of Life Family, Mabel & Daisy! πŸ’™

We are delighted to introduce the newest members of the New Leash of Life family – Mabel and Daisy. πŸ’–

At one point, we thought we wouldn't be able to help these two lovely girls, but thanks to the incredible support around us, we were able to step in. They are now both settled into wonderful foster homes where they can begin the next chapter of their lives.

πŸ’™ Mabel is a beautiful 5-year-old American Bulldog with a friendly, affectionate nature.
πŸ’™ Daisy is a sweet, calm, and gentle 8-year-old French Bulldog who has already stolen everyone's heart.

Sadly, due to a change in their owner's circumstances, they were no longer able to provide the time and care that Mabel and Daisy deserved. We are committed to giving them all the love, support, and care they need while they prepare for their forever homes.

🏑 Daisy has already been reserved.
🐢 Mabel is not yet available for adoption as we would like to spend some more time assessing her needs to ensure we find the perfect match.
Finally, we'd like to say a huge thank you to our amazing supporters and our dedicated team for making this possible. Your kindness, generosity, and hard work allow us to continue giving dogs like Mabel and Daisy the fresh start they deserve. We couldn't do it without you. ❀️

The Emergencies are coming in thick and fast πŸ™ˆ

Skye is a 7 year old Staffy. Sadly her owner died which left her with nowhere to go. She needed somewhere by tomorrow so we couldn't wait around. I have been to collect her and she's with me and my gang. Luckily she is Dog friendly so could come to mine. She's very friendly and doesn't seem disorientated with the sudden change. She is vaccinated, neutered, flea and worm treated. She will make someone very happy

πŸ’” Rolo Needs More Time -And We Need Your Help πŸ’”

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who has donated towards Rolo's kennel costs. Because of your kindness and generosity, we've managed to secure a few more days for him, and he is now safe until Monday πŸ’™

But we're becoming increasingly worried.

Despite all the shares and support, we still haven't received any suitable foster offers for Rolo. Time is running short, and while we will continue trying to raise funds to extend his stay, there is only so much we can do financially.

What Rolo desperately needs isn't another kennel extension β€” it's a safe place to call home.

🏑 URGENT FOSTER HOME NEEDED

❌ No pets ❌ No children

We know these requirements make finding the right foster home more challenging, but we refuse to give up on him. Somewhere out there is the person who can change Rolo's life forever.
If you can offer a foster home, please get in touch as soon as possible.
If you'd like to help buy Rolo more time while we continue searching, donations can be made via bank transfer or through our Go Fund Me

Please don't scroll past.

πŸ™ Like. πŸ™ Comment. πŸ™ Share.

Every share gives Rolo another chance of being seen by the person who could become his hero.
Rolo's hero is out there somewhere. Help us find them before time runs out πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™

With the weather warming up lots of us are traveling to secure fields, woods and general cooler walks. Let's make sure we're keeping our dogs safe and legal

🐢 Transporting Dogs Safely in Vehicles – What the Law Says & Why It Matters πŸš—

As dog owners, we all want our four-legged friends to travel safely, whether it's a quick trip to the park or a long journey across the country.

Did you know it's a legal requirement in the UK to properly restrain your dog while travelling in a vehicle?
Under Rule 57 of the Highway Code, dogs (and other animals) should be suitably restrained so they cannot distract the driver or injure themselves or occupants if the vehicle stops suddenly.

Suitable restraints include:

βœ”οΈ A dog seat belt harness
βœ”οΈ A secured crate or carrier
βœ”οΈ A dog guard fitted behind the seats
βœ”οΈ A vehicle-specific dog cage

Failure to properly control an animal in a vehicle could potentially result in offences under the Road Traffic Act 1988, particularly if the animal causes the driver to become distracted or affects their control of the vehicle.

🐾 Why is this so important?

An unrestrained dog can:

⚠️ Distract the driver, increasing the risk of a collision.
⚠️ Become seriously injured or killed in even a low-speed accident.
⚠️ Be thrown around the vehicle during sudden braking.
⚠️ Injure passengers through impact in a collision.
⚠️ Escape onto a road after an accident, putting themselves and other road users at risk.

To put it into perspective, in a crash at just 30mph, a medium-sized dog can become a significant projectile force within the vehicle.

πŸ’‘ Some additional safety tips:

πŸ• Never allow your dog to sit on your lap while driving.
πŸ• Ensure crates are securely fixed and appropriately sized.
πŸ• Keep dogs cool and well ventilated during journeys.
πŸ• Take regular breaks on longer trips for water, exercise, and toilet stops.
πŸ• Make sure your dog wears an ID tag and is microchipped in case they become separated from you.
πŸ• NEVER leave a dog unattended in a vehicle during warm weather.

At the end of the day, restraining your dog isn't just about complying with the lawβ€”it's about protecting a much-loved member of the family and everyone else on the road.

Stay safe and happy travelling! 🐾❀️

Massive Thank You to Adam at Raining Cats and Dogs Boarding Kennels and Cattery for donating 10 free group sessions for our Boy Major.

Major came into rescue untrained and unsocialized. Since being in Rescue he has worked so hard and is doing really well. He has been attending weekly group sessions and from a dog that couldn't be near other dogs due to so much excitement, which made it easy to misunderstand him to be aggressive. To a dog that is excelling is incredible to see. Keep being a good boy Major you are doing amazing, and the humans helping him understand the world πŸ’™

πŸ’™ ROLO IS SAFE FOR ANOTHER FIVE DAYS πŸ’™

We have some good news to share about Rolo.
Thanks to the incredible kindness and support we've received, we have managed to pay for five days in kennels for Rolo. This means that today, his life has been saved for another five days.

Right now, Rolo is safe. He is being fed, cared for, loved and treated well whilst we continue fighting for his future.

These extra days give us precious time to either:
Secure additional funds to extend his kennel stay, or
Find him a foster home, or even better, his forever home.

Every single day matters for dogs like Rolo, and we are so grateful to everyone who has donated, shared his story and supported him so far.
We are not out of the woods yet, but for today, Rolo is safe, warm and cared for πŸ’™

If you can help us continue his journey, please consider donating or sharing our fundraiser:

πŸ”— GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/f24f15545

Or donate via bank transfer, details in pictures

Please keep sharing Rolo's story. The right person may see this and change his life forever.
