ECRA stands for the East Coulsdon Residents’ Association who represent the interests of the residents within the former East Coulsdon Ward including parts of Coulsdon West and Cane Hill within the London Borough of Croydon. The Committee, who are all volunteers, try to protect the area from over or inappropriate development. Lobbying the Council, Transport Companies, TFL NHS and others on behalf o
f our residents and businesses. This includes the Town Centre and district shops that give service to us all. Concerns in planning, parking trees, rubbish and re-cycling collections and the like are raised with the Council. We represent residents’ views at various Steering Group Meetings and encourage as many of ECRA residents to attend and become involved. We also represent those interests to wider bodies such as Transport for London (TfL), English Partnership, road safety, Green Belt and Environmental Sustainability, Policing and Neighbourhood Watch / Police Ward Panel and we keep an eye on all of the current planning applications in the area, objecting or supporting where appropriate or necessary, including supporting Old Coulsdon Residents’ Association (OCRA), Coulsdon West Residents’ Association, Hartley & District Residents' Association (HADRA) and other Residents’ Association in the area if required or necessary. We are all volunteers and like to involve residents in Food Hub collections and litter picks. Since the Pandemic of 2020 we have helped set up and encouraged the setting up of street WhatsApp groups to help people keep in touch and ask or offer help to their neighbours. We deliver a quarterly newsletter, The Review, and happy to take articles or suggestions on board. We are always looking for road stewards to deliver and collect the £3 annual subs, though many pay by SO or direct to our bank account. We hold a yearly AGM to elect officers and are always looking for new members to bring fresh blood and new ideas to the table.
