A wonderful new Summer Festival, founded by cellist Adrian Brendel & Elinor Sheilds & presented by distinguished Musician friends, based in Abbotsbury & well worth attending…we all know that their mission is a current priority in the classical Music world

“Tree of Strings is a new charitable project grounded in the landscapes and communities of the South West. We produce a programme of world-class music performances and educational events across the year, starting in 2026.

Our work connects emerging and established musicians through concerts and school projects, beginning with our three-day festival in Abbotsbury this July.

At a time when provision for music is shrinking, we exist to give children more access, nurture young talent and inspire new audiences”.

10.15am Registration (for whole day – masterclass and orchestral sessions and concert)
10.30am Welcome and presentation on studying at a Conservatoire from Nic Pendlebury (Head of Strings, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance)
11.00am Masterclass session with specialist string tutors from Trinity Laban
12.00pm LUNCH
12.45pm – 1.45pm Masterclass session with specialist string tutors from Trinity Laban
1.30pm Registration (for afternoon orchestral sessions and concert only)
2pm String Orchestra coaching (sectionals)
2.45pm BREAK
3.00pm String Orchestra coaching (full)
4.15pm BREAK

What a special afternoon!

Better photos to follow, but we were delighted to welcome the inspirational Rebecca Gilliver for a wonderful cello class and recital. Our young cellists performed beautifully and embraced every opportunity to learn from Rebecca's expertise and encouragement…
Congratulations to Lena, Ellen ()),Ella, Sophie (Thomas Hardye School Music Department), Solomon (Bournemouth School) with younger cellists Sienna(Parkstone Grammar School) and Freya(Home Ed).
The afternoon ended with a cello ensemble performance, followed by a captivating recital from Rebecca, enjoyed by an appreciative audience with a glass of wine.
Many thanks to Simon Gilliver for his excellent piano accompaniment, Kate Keats for her cello support, everyone who helped behind the scenes, and Broadstone United Reformed Church for being such welcoming hosts.
Another memorable day of music-making and inspiration for all involved. 🎻
