A huge thank you to everyone who attended our AGM! It was fantastic to see such a great turnout, bringing together members and supporters from across the allotment community.

We were treated to two inspiring and informative talks from Richards and Andrew Tokely, and it was wonderful to be joined by our ambassadors Claymore and Owen-Hughes.

A special thank you also goes to our valued partners Kings Seeds and Chris Knott Insurance for their continued support. Kings Seeds brought along a fantastic selection of seeds for members to browse and enjoy, which proved extremely popular throughout the day.

The AGM was a great opportunity to celebrate our achievements, share ideas, network with fellow growers, and look ahead to the future of the allotment movement. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a successful event – we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Today is the National Allotment Society AGM!

A warm welcome to everyone joining us today. We’re looking forward to a fantastic event and an opportunity to reflect on the year gone by and look ahead to the future of allotments.

Attendees can look forward to a presentation from Huw Richards, passionate gardener, author, and popular YouTuber, who inspires thousands of growers with his practical advice on gardening and self-sufficiency.

We're also delighted to welcome Andrew Tokely and his team from Kings Seeds, who will be sharing their expertise and insights from one of the UK's most respected seed companies.

For those unable to join us this year, you will be missed. Don't worry though – we'll be sharing highlights from the AGM in a future edition of Allotment & Leisure Gardener, so you'll be able to catch up on all the key news, discussions, and presentations.

Have a wonderful AGM everyone!

Every seed tells a story.

Allotments are more than places to grow food. They are living libraries where knowledge, skills, and traditions are passed from one generation to the next.

From seed saving and composting to seasonal eating and soil care, allotments teach us lessons that remain as relevant today as ever.

What is the most valuable lesson you've learned on your allotment?

Volunteer With Us

Behind every thriving allotment community are people who give their time, skills and passion to help others grow.

Whether you're an experienced plot holder, a gardening enthusiast, or simply someone who wants to make a difference, volunteering is a rewarding way to support allotments and the communities they serve.

As a volunteer, you could help with:
🌿 Community engagement and outreach
🌿 Events and campaigns
🌿 Youth and education programmes
🌿 Sharing gardening knowledge and experience
🌿 Supporting projects that protect and promote allotments

Volunteering isn't just about giving back—it's an opportunity to meet new people, develop skills, gain experience and help shape the future of allotments.

Not sure where to start with an overgrown allotment?

You’re not alone — and it’s often more manageable than it first appears.

If your plot has become overrun with brambles, weeds, or years of neglected growth, the key is having a clear, step-by-step approach rather than trying to tackle everything at once.

Our latest blog breaks the process down into practical stages — from identifying different types of weeds and choosing the right clearing methods, to safe working practices and how to keep your plot under control long term once it’s back in shape.

Whether you’re taking on your first allotment or reclaiming a long-neglected space, it’s designed to help you move forward with confidence and at your own pace.
