πŸ“Š QUESTION FOR EMPLOYERS

What is the biggest barrier to employing teenagers aged 13–17?

πŸ”Ή Financial costs
πŸ”Ή Employment laws and age restrictions
πŸ”Ή Paperwork and permits
πŸ”Ή Insurance and safeguarding requirements
πŸ”Ή Lack of suitable roles
πŸ”Ή Other (please comment below)

I’m trying to better understand the challenges employers face so we can explore possible solutions.

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hardship Grants Open to UK Fashion and Textile Families (UK)

Grants are available to help parents and carers working in the UK fashion or textile industry who are struggling financially. This could be due to a sudden loss of income, an unexpected change in circumstances or a family event.

The Fashion & Textile Children's Trust provides funding for essential and specialist items, including:

- children's clothing
- children's bedroom furniture
- essential appliances, washing machine, fridge, oven
- mobility equipment
- sensory toys
- therapies

To be eligible, current workers need at least six months’ employment in the past nine years, while former workers and self-employed applicants usually need at least 12 months.

Examples of eligible employers:

- High street clothes shops
- Textile companies and manufacturers
- Laundries and laundrettes
- Logistic companies for clothing brands
- Soft furnishing companies
- Self-employed people can also apply

Applications can be submitted at any time. Applicants should complete an online enquiry form to check whether they qualify. If eligible, they will then be invited to submit a full application form.
