A multi agency walkabout took place today in Consett town centre attended by MP Liz Twist, County Councillor Kathryn Rooney, various Durham County Council Officers and Police – we met with local community members and business owners to discuss the issues that are affecting the area and what can be done to help.

An action plane is to be drawn up and further meetings will be scheduled.

Police and partners including Neighbourhood Wardens and Rough Sleeper Team Officers will be increasing patrols in the area.

To report any issues for Durham County Council please call 03000 260000 or use the online reporting system www.durham.gov.uk/doitonline

To report issues for Police please call 101 or, if an emergency 999.

We are aware of some social media posts which are unsubstantiated and may be causing tensions to rise in the community and would ask people not to speculate and to report any concerns.
