🚀 We are incredibly proud to announce… A Grand Week in Wales 2026 is officially launching, and we need your help to make it HUGE.
What started as a simple idea during lockdown has grown into something truly special, a movement that brings communities together to do good, feel good, and prove what’s possible when we act as one.
💛 A Grand Week in Wales (GWIW) is built around one powerful idea — the number 1000, the circumference of Wales in miles:
Inspired by the scale, spirit, and unity of Wales itself,a nation of communities, valleys, coastlines, and culture, this is about every corner of the country playing its part.
For one week, schools, businesses, sports clubs, charities, and individuals from North to South, East to West will take on their own “1000 challenges”, whether that’s:
Walking 1000 miles across our towns, valleys, and coastline
Cooking 1000 meals for those who need it most
Collecting 1000 bags of litter to protect our land and seas
Delivering 1000 acts of kindness within our communities
Or creating something completely unique that represents their part of Wales
Because that’s what Wales does best, showing up for each other.
And when thousands of people all do their bit, no matter how small, it builds into something powerful… something that reflects the true strength, pride, and heart of Wales.
🌍 This is bigger than one organisation. We are proud to be working alongside some absolutely inspiring partners and charities who are already backing this vision, organisations that are changing lives every single day.
A Grand Week in Wales is spearheaded by CAFgas CIC, who, alongside the other incredible charities involved, will also be a beneficiary of the impact created, ensuring the work carried out during the week continues to support communities long after it ends.
From community groups tackling loneliness and food poverty, to environmental champions, veteran support organisations, schools, and local businesses, this is a true collaboration across Wales.
Some of the incredible organisations already involved include:
Nanny Biscuit – tackling food poverty and supporting vulnerable families through community food pantries
Woody’s Lodge – supporting veterans with mental health, wellbeing, and community connection
We Mind The Gap – helping young people into employment, training, and life opportunities
Green Paw – promoting environmental awareness and animal welfare
Pop Marketing CIC - marketing solutions whilst providing life changing skills for youth
Ace Place Cardiff – supporting mental health and wellbeing through community initiatives
Keep Wales Tidy – leading environmental action, including litter picking and community clean-ups
🙏 A special thank you to Flintshire County CouncilYour support, belief, and leadership have been incredible, helping drive this into schools and communities across the region.
📚 And to the schools who have already signed up, thank you.You are the heartbeat of this movement. The energy, creativity, and passion of young people will shape what this becomes.
🔥 How it works:For one week in June 2026, Wales comes alive.
Schools run their own challenges
Businesses get their teams involved
Communities come together
Stories are captured and shared
Impact is measured and celebrated
And at the end of it all… we come together to celebrate what we’ve achieved, together, at a free family festival for everyone to enjoy.
🌟 The Vision
This isn’t just a one-week event. Our goal is to grow A Grand Week in Wales into something as iconic for Wales as Red Nose Day, a national moment that brings everyone together, raises awareness, drives real impact, and puts the power of community on full display.
