We are in the early days of creating a new museum, ‘Emergency Services Museum Cornwall’, (E.S.M.C.) based on a passion and collection that started some 20 years ago. Our aim is to preserve and promote the past, present and future of the Emergency Services, both local and international. “EXPLORE - DISCOVER - LEARN”. This project started around 18 months ago and is steadily gathering pace. We’re currently in the process of looking for a permanent home for our growing collection but feel that given the interest shown, particularly in our American La France fire truck, now is the time to publically announce our intentions. We currently have four vehicles varying from a TACR-1 Land Rover fire engine to a 16-ton airport fire truck. Many more are being discussed pending our securing a suitable site. We are steadily amassing a fascinating collection of uniforms, equipment and artefacts as well as personal stories and histories that bring the collection to life. In order that these exhibits are kept in good condition for the museum we will be carrying out preservation and restoration. Our intention is to conduct educational activities and visits which will build strong ties with our local schools and youth groups. We currently attend as many local carnivals and events as our schedule allows with the aim to increase this as the collection grows. At present we are not open for public viewing. However if you would like to see our current collection we may be able to arrange this by appointment using the contact details below. A donation towards the development of the museum would be gratefully received. Where possible we can also arrange to bring vehicles and a selection of equipment to your event. We are in a position to be able to accept donations of photographs, stories, vehicles, equipment and even premises! We regret that we cannot currently accept anything on a loan basis.
