Blossom

Blossom Blossom's ambition is to help every woman in the community to reach their full potential. To date, we have blessed 138 women through the appeal.

In Feb 2021, Ashes To Gold set up the first collection hub in Northern Ireland for the 'Love Grace Handbag Appeal'. This is a place where people in the community can donate handbags and essential items for women living in refuge. The journey so far has allowed us to connect with women of all ages and backgrounds from the Causeway Coast and Glens area who have shown their passion for supporting and empowering local women. They have also shown an interest in developing services and projects for women and so …. Blossom was born

The definition of a person ‘blossoming’ is becoming more successful or confident. The purpose of this group is exactly that. We want to give local women the opportunities to grow - no matter what that means. The ideas developed already include gaining new skills and steps to employment, DIY, Gardening Personal Safety and simply meeting other women in the area. We are a new venture with a steering group made up of REAL local women and we want to deliver what the women here want and need to help them grow in their lives.

🍂🌿 Autumn Wreath Making at Blossom 🌿🍂

Our Gardening Activity Day on Saturday was filled with creativity, laughter, and plenty of autumn colour as our ladies came together to create some beautiful seasonal wreaths. 🍁🌾

It was especially lovely to welcome a couple of mothers and daughters who joined in together, making it a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time, share ideas, and create special memories alongside one another. 💛

The finished wreaths were absolutely stunning, with each one showcasing its creator's unique style and creativity. Days like these are a wonderful reminder of the friendships, support, and sense of community that Blossom is all about.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the day so special. We think the photos speak for themselves! 📸👇

🌱🌸 A Wonderful Day at Grow with Blossom! 🌸🌱

Yesterday, we enjoyed a fantastic Gardening Day at our Grow Project, and what a lovely day it was! 💚

We kicked off the morning with delicious scones, homemade jam specially made from fruit grown right here at Grow 🥰🍓, along with plenty of tea and coffee ☕😍.

Our group got busy in the polytunnel, harvesting a fantastic selection of home-grown produce including carrots, beetroot, onions, blueberries and tomatoes 🥕🧅🫐🍅. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the experience.

A huge thank you to one of our wonderful volunteers who used the freshly harvested vegetables, along with the marrow picked last week, to make a delicious homemade soup 🍲. It was absolutely gorgeous, if I do say so myself! 😋

The creativity continued as everyone made their own flower pots to take home 🪴🌼, and we also planted potatoes that we hope to harvest in time for Christmas 🎄🥔. We can't wait to see how they get on over the coming months!

There were lots of smiles, plenty of laughter, and a real sense of achievement throughout the day. These are the moments that make the Grow Project so special, bringing people together, building confidence, learning new skills, and enjoying the rewards of growing our own produce. 💕

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a success. We’re already looking forward to our next Grow Project adventure! 🌱💚

We are Bobbins

We started as a six week class
Just a few with time to pass
Needles, thread and laughs galore,
Then folk kept coming through the door

We are Bobbins, proud and true
There’s always room for one or two
With a cuppa first and plenty of craic,
You’ll always find us coming back
Rain or hail, we’ll find a way,
But if the thunder starts to roar
You’ll hear Janice shout “No more”
We’ll wait it out with tea in hand
The best wee sewing group in the land.

Every Monday’s our favourite day
Sewing, knitting, crochet too we are Bobbins through and through
We make for others, lend a hand
Helping good causes round the land
Then every now and then we roam,
For food and drink and laughs then home

We are Bobbins, more than friends,
A family whose story never ends
With every stitch and every smile,
We make life brighter all the while
We’ve shared stitches, stories, laughs,
And maybe the odd tear along the way.

We’re not just Bobbins
We are family.
