No training tonight! 🥵☀️

Due to the heatwave, there will be no training tonight. Please keep yourselves — and your dogs — safe and cool.

Here are a few simple ways to keep your dogs sensibly occupied at home without overdoing the exercise:

🐾 Scatter a few treats or pieces of their dinner around the house for them to sniff out.

🐾 Try a snuffle mat, lick mat or food puzzle.

🐾 Practise some gentle training indoors — a few minutes of simple cues, tricks or focus work can be surprisingly tiring!

🐾 Give them something safe to chew.

🐾 Freeze some of their usual food in a Kong or suitable enrichment toy for a longer-lasting, cooling activity.

Stay cool everyone, and we’ll see you at the next session! 🐶❤️

What a brilliant day we had at our Para-Obedience Show on Sunday! 🐾

A massive thank you to everyone who came along, took part, helped out, and supported the day. It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves, and the food table was absolutely amazing! 😊

A special thank you to our judge, Angela, for giving up your time and making the day run so smoothly.

We had such a great time and can't wait to do it all again! Our next Para-Obedience Show will be in September, if you'd like to come along or find out more, just get in touch.

Thank you Pupadoodle PicknMix, LickiMat & The Odd Dog Uk for your kind donations to our prizes.
The rosettes were made by Megan Green & are stunning, thank you.

We had a great morning with Nose knows today! 🐶🐾

Although we're disappointed that this afternoon's group had to be postponed - It certainly got much warmer after lunch, so it was the right decision for both dogs and handlers.

This morning brought lots of successes, with dogs and handlers of all different experience levels enjoying themselves and making great progress. We even finished with some doggy ice cream! 🍦🐕

Scent work is a fantastic way to exercise your dog's brain without overexerting them in the heat, making it the perfect activity for warm summer days.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning.

Unfortunately, training is cancelled this evening due to the high temperatures.

If you're looking for ways to help keep your dog comfortable and entertained in the heat, here are a few ideas:

💧 Provide plenty of fresh, cool water throughout the day.
🧊 Freeze treats, stuffed Kongs, or dog-safe fruit for a cooling snack.
🌳 Stay in shaded areas and avoid walking during the hottest parts of the day.
🏡 Play indoor games such as scent work or trick training.
🌊 Set up a paddling pool or use a sprinkler if your dog enjoys water.
❄️ Offer cooling mats, damp towels, or frozen water bottles wrapped in a towel.
🐕 Keep exercise gentle and short, opting for early morning or late evening walks.
🚗 Never leave a dog in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.
🥕 Try frozen carrots or other dog-safe frozen treats for enrichment.
👅 Watch for signs of overheating such as excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, or difficulty breathing.

Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to seeing everyone back at training next week. Stay safe and keep those paws cool! 🐾
