🥃 Whisky Tasting Night – Lodge Murdostoun Castle No. 1096 🥃

Join us for a fantastic evening of fine whisky, great company, and warm hospitality at our upcoming Whisky Tasting Night!

📍 Masonic Hall, Thistle Street, Cleland, ML1 5UA

For just £25, you’ll enjoy:
🥃 6 drams of quality whisky
🥧 A traditional pie included

Whether you’re a seasoned whisky enthusiast or just fancy a great night out, this is the perfect opportunity to relax, socialise, and sample some excellent drams.

All are welcome – bring a friend and make a night of it!

We will be running a sweepstake for the Masters Tournament 2026 (9th–12th April).

There are ~88 golfers in the field, with entries at £5 per golfer. Multiple entries are encouraged. Golfers will be randomly allocated once all payments are received.

Prizes are as follows:
• 1st: £150
• 2nd: £60
• 3rd: £40

Additional prizes (£10 each):
• Leader after Day 1
• Lowest score of the week
• Best score on the final day

Rules for bonus prizes:
• In the event of a playoff, the overall tournament winner will be classed as the winner.
• If there is a joint leader after Day 1, the £10 rolls over to the “best final round” prize (£20 total).
• If there is a tie for lowest score over the 4 days, that £10 also rolls into the “best final round” prize.
• If all three bonus prizes are tied, all eligible entrants will be entered into a draw for £30.

Deadline for payment is Tuesday 7th April.

When sending payment, please use your name as reference (e.g. “Logan Golf Sweep”).

Brethren, dust off the aprons, iron the collars, and get the satnav set for Cleland!

Tonight at Lodge Murdostoun Castle No. 1096, we’re delighted to welcome our visiting brethren from Lodge Kajaki, who’ll be conferring a Mark Master Mason Degree.
Tyle: 7:30 pm.

Expect fine ritual, plenty of laughs, and possibly the odd confused look from anyone who hasn’t been in a Mark Lodge for a while (don’t worry, we’ve all been there).

After the degree, we’ll hold a short Remembrance Service to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 🕯️

So come along, fill the seats, and let’s show Lodge Kajaki what Murdostoun hospitality really looks like, good ritual, good harmony, and maybe even a decent pie at the end!

We extend a warm invitation to all brethren who have attained the rank of Mark Master Mason to join us tomorrow, Tuesday, 11 November 2025, at Lodge Murdostoun Castle No. 1096.

We’re honoured to welcome our visiting brethren from Lodge Kajaki, who will be conferring a Mark Master Mason Degree.
Tyle: 7:30 pm.

Following the degree, a short and respectful Remembrance Service will be held to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 🕯️

Let’s fill the lodge and show true Murdostoun support for our visitors and the occasion.

Brethren, it’s Friday night, the perfect time to swap the sofa for the square and join us for a special meeting at Murdostoun Castle!

We’ll be raising a progressive candidate to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason, with the ceremony being worked by a mixed team of office-bearers drawn from Lodges within and outwith the Middle Ward of Lanarkshire and, fittingly, they’re also colleagues of the candidate himself. They know a thing or two about keeping things right and shining a light when needed. 😉

It promises to be an evening of excellent work, fine company, and that unmistakable Friday feeling that only a special meeting can bring.

So no excuses, brethren — come along, support the candidate, and help us raise the roof at Lodge Murdostoun Castle No. 1096!

What a night at Lodge Murdostoun Castle!
Huge thanks to all the Reigning Masters who took part in the degree, your ritual was absolutely first class and a brilliant display of teamwork and dedication. You did yourselves and your lodges proud.

To everyone who attended, thank you for filling the lodge room with support, warmth, and… well, even more warmth. Let’s just say it was as warm as a sauna in July, but worth every drop of sweat for such a special and memorable evening!

Fraternal thanks to all involved. A night to remember!

Brethren, a wee reminder that tonight is our Reigning Masters’ Degree at Lodge Murdostoun Castle No. 1096!

There’s no better way to initiate a candidate into the mysteries of Freemasonry than by recreating the scorching conditions our ancient brethren endured building King Solomon’s Temple… but fear not — while the degree will be fiery in spirit, we promise the lodge room won’t be! All efforts are being made today to keep the temple cool and comfortable for all in attendance.

Come along and support the candidate and your fellow reigning masters in what’s sure to be a memorable evening. Tyle at 7:30 PM sharp — we look forward to your company!

The lodge is getting laid out, the candles are trimmed, and the regalia is pressed – everything’s nearly ready for tomorrow night’s Degree at Lodge Murdostoun Castle!

We’re looking forward to a great evening of Freemasonry, and it would be fantastic to see the seats full – especially with first-time visitors. If you’ve never been before, you’ll get a warm welcome, a good degree, and maybe even a wee biscuit if you’re lucky.

Tyle is at 7:30 pm sharp. Come early, get settled, and enjoy the harmony of the Craft.

Brethren, a wee reminder that this Friday is the Reigning Masters’ Degree – a cracking evening not to be missed!

Let’s have a strong turnout to support the reigning masters as they take the floor. The degree will be delivered with all the dignity and decorum you’d expect (and possibly a touch more rehearsal than usual…).

Speaking of which – I hear one Master was spotted in full regalia, wandering round Disneyland Paris, ritual book in hand, trying to memorise his part between rides on “It’s a Small World”! That’s dedication – or desperation – we’ll let you decide!

We’re throwing open the castle gates for a special Reigning Masters’ Entered Apprentice Degree – and this isn’t your average Thursday night paper shuffling. It’s FRIDAY, so no excuses!

We’ve got a progressive candidate, a band of visiting reigning masters who know their way around the Work, and a lodge ready to burst with good company, hearty laughs and Masonic spirit (plus actual spirits at harmony – we’re no daft…)

Perfect. We’ve got a seat with your name on it, a handshake waiting, and a warm welcome you’ll not forget.

A huge thank you to The Whisky Engineer for a fabulous whisky tasting at Lodge Murdostoun Castle No. 1096 last night. Your knowledge, passion, and selection of drams made for a truly memorable evening!

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who came along and supported the event – it was brilliant to see so many familiar and new faces. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did!
