📣Sharing on behalf of the North East Lincolnshire Womens Safety Charter

This evening at the Holiday Inn on Wellowgate, they are inviting women across the county to come along to share their views, experiences and ideas to help make North East Lincolnshire a safer space for women.

Some of us will be there alongside some of our wonderful women to feed into this initiative and also to see if there's anything our little CIC can help with.

If you need some support around attending please let us know and we will see what we can do, even if it's just to meet you outside so you're not walking in alone. We want to reduce as many barriers as possible to allowing your voice to be heard!!

At Modern Matriarchs CIC, our purpose is simple: to support and empower women across North East Lincolnshire, ensuring our community is a place where female voices are heard, valued and safe.

​Visible female leadership matters across community groups, local institutions and decision making spaces. When local conversations focus on the representation of women and women's rights, we want to remind every woman in our region that your experiences, leadership and safety are paramount.

​We remain entirely non political and independent, focused solely on creating safe spaces, supporting women's wellbeing, and advocating for equal opportunities for all women in our area.

​Our doors, drop ins and supportive spaces are open as always to any woman needing a safe place to connect, lead or be heard.

SAFETY NOTICE: How to Turn Off Emergency Alerts on Hidden Phones 📱

⚠️Following the recent Government Emergency SMS Alerts, we want to share a crucial reminder for anyone in our community who relies on a hidden or second phone for their safety.
Emergency alerts override silent modes and play a loud siren like sound. If you have a concealed device as part of your safety plan, here is how you can turn these alerts off to prevent it from being revealed:

How to Disable Emergency Alerts:
🔸iPhone:
Open Settings
Tap Notifications
Scroll all the way to the bottom
Toggle off Severe alerts and Extreme alerts (or Emergency Alerts)

🔸Android:
Open Settings
Search for "Emergency Alerts" or "Wireless Emergency Alerts"
Toggle off Severe alerts, Extreme alerts, and Allow alerts

Alternative Quick Step:If you cannot find the settings right away, keeping the device completely switched off or in Airplane Mode will also stop alerts from sounding. (Please note: If a phone is powered off, it will not receive the alert when turned back on, but toggling off the settings permanently ensures future unannounced alerts will not sound either.)

We're proud to share and support this important local initiative!
The team behind the North East Lincolnshire Women’s Safety Charter is hosting a collaborative workshop, and they are calling on women across the borough to help shape its next steps.
Together, the session will look at practical resources, campaign ideas and community activities to bring the charter to life; working towards safer streets, venues and public spaces for everyone.
Whether you have lived experience to share, practical ideas or simply want to champion safer communities for women and girls, your voice matters!

When women support women, something beautiful always happens. 🌳✨

Our Tree of Life painting evening: The Roots of Sisterhood, is more than just an art session. It’s an opportunity to pause, connect with other women and explore your own story through creativity in a warm, welcoming space. We believe our strength as women is deeply rooted in these meaningful connections.

Join us at The Snug, Grimsby, on August 24th at 5 PM for this special women only event.

🎨 What to Expect:

A fully guided and facilitated Tree of Life painting workshop.

All materials and tools provided (no experience needed!).

A respectful, supportive space to meet new people.

Authentic connection over creativity.
