Our next 10-week Modern Mindfulness course begins on Tuesday 7th July, with sessions available both online or in person at SUMMIT House.

Grounded in science rather than spirituality, each session is designed to fit seamlessly into modern life and busy schedules. You'll learn practical mindfulness techniques that can be easily integrated into your day, helping you cultivate a healthier, more positive relationship with yourself and the world around you.

Through simple, accessible practices centred on the body and the breath, you'll develop skills to reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, sharpen focus and memory, strengthen confidence, and build greater emotional resilience.

You can also access optional one-to-one support if you’d benefit from more personalised guidance, and thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, this is all completely free. For everyone.

There are a very limited number of places still available, so if you'd like to find out more or sign up, please visit https://www.summitservices.org.uk/mindfulness

As we reach the midpoint of Pride Month and mark Autism Pride Day today, we want to reaffirm something that should never be up for debate: every person deserves to be seen, heard, respected, and included.

At a time when LGBTQ+ people, autistic people, and many other communities continue to face discrimination and barriers to equality, standing together matters more than ever.

Solidarity is not symbolic; it is a commitment to building a society where everyone can belong, participate, and be valued for who they are.

As we look ahead, we remain dedicated to creating spaces where people feel safe, supported, and empowered. At SUMMIT, we will continue to champion inclusion, widen access to support wherever possible, and ensure everyone has the opportunity to find their voice, exercise their rights, and thrive as their authentic selves.

May this month remind us that Pride was born from the courage to challenge prejudice and exclusion, and that its legacy endures today as a powerful expression of resilience, connection, and hope.

Yesterday we had a really productive meeting down Yarra Farm with Rob Mann (not pictured) and Greenpath Ventures to explore ways we can collaborate and support each other’s work around mental health.

Being introduced all the newborn lambs, kids and piglets definitely made it more memorable than your average Teams meeting too.

Watch this space, some exciting things are on the horizon!

Do you live in Tendring and have tried to book a GP appointment in the last 12 months?

We would love to hear from you.

Our independent survey exploring how local residents access GP services, particularly since many surgeries introduced online booking systems, will close on Tuesday 30th June. But there’s still time to get involved.

More than 100 people from across Tendring have already taken part, telling us what works well, what difficulties they have encountered, who may be struggling most with these changes, and what could be done to make access fairer and more inclusive for everyone.

Whether booking an appointment has been straightforward or difficult, your feedback can help us better understand what local people are experiencing and what improvements may be needed. The survey takes just 2-3 minutes to complete and can be submitted anonymously.

Prefer another way to share your views?

You are also welcome to contact us directly at [email protected] or by calling 01255 429778. We can send you a printed copy of the survey with a stamped addressed envelope, provide an easy read version, or talk through the questions with you over the phone if that would be more helpful.

Your feedback will directly shape a report reflecting the experiences of local people and support the future development of SUMMIT services to better help people access healthcare in Tendring. Together, we can help make GP services fairer, easier to access, and more inclusive for everyone in our community.

Please share this post with anyone who may be interested in taking part.

Would you like to explore journaling and creative writing?

From June, SUMMIT House will be hosting Tiptoe Creatives, two new monthly journaling groups taking place on a Wednesday, 1-3pm. One group is for people living with mental health conditions, and the other is designed for people who may be autistic or benefit from additional support, such as smaller group sizes. You do not need a formal diagnosis to attend, and both groups are completely free. All materials you'd ever need to take part are also provided.

Journaling is the practice of regularly writing down your thoughts, feelings and experiences. It can support emotional processing, self-understanding, reflection and wellbeing. Led by Laura May, a writer from Clacton-on-Sea, these sessions will gently introduce different journaling techniques while exploring themes such as mindfulness, creativity and self-expression in a safe and supportive environment.

Are you a woman living in Essex who is Autistic, ADHD or otherwise neurodivergent and either experiencing, or worried about, perimenopause, menopause or other hormonal changes?

For many neurodivergent women, this stage of life can affect far more than physical health. Experiences commonly associated with autism or ADHD, such as overwhelm, burnout, sensory sensitivities, emotional exhaustion and brain fog, can become even more intense during perimenopause and menopause. This can leave everyday life suddenly feeling harder than ever to manage and, at times, deeply confusing, isolating and exhausting.

If this sounds familiar, you are far from alone.

SUMMIT is exploring the possibility of developing a new LikeMinds Essex peer group specifically for women navigating menopause and perimenopause alongside Autism, ADHD or other forms of neurodivergence.

The group would aim to provide a supportive and confidential space where women can connect with others who have had similar experiences, share coping strategies and practical information, learn more about their health and wellbeing, build confidence and encourage empowerment and self-advocacy.

We want to better understand what kind of support would feel genuinely helpful, understanding and accessible, and we would really value hearing about your experiences, ideas and preferences.

We’re inviting you to complete a short, completely anonymous survey. Your feedback will help shape what this new LikeMinds Essex peer group could look like and how it can best support women in our community.
