Would you like to explore journaling and creative writing?

From June, SUMMIT House will be hosting Tiptoe Creatives, two new monthly journaling groups taking place on a Wednesday, 1-3pm. One group is for people living with mental health conditions, and the other is designed for people who may be autistic or benefit from additional support, such as smaller group sizes. You do not need a formal diagnosis to attend, and both groups are completely free. All materials you'd ever need to take part are also provided.

Journaling is the practice of regularly writing down your thoughts, feelings and experiences. It can support emotional processing, self-understanding, reflection and wellbeing. Led by Laura May, a writer from Clacton-on-Sea, these sessions will gently introduce different journaling techniques while exploring themes such as mindfulness, creativity and self-expression in a safe and supportive environment.

Are you a woman living in Essex who is Autistic, ADHD or otherwise neurodivergent and either experiencing, or worried about, perimenopause, menopause or other hormonal changes?

For many neurodivergent women, this stage of life can affect far more than physical health. Experiences commonly associated with autism or ADHD, such as overwhelm, burnout, sensory sensitivities, emotional exhaustion and brain fog, can become even more intense during perimenopause and menopause. This can leave everyday life suddenly feeling harder than ever to manage and, at times, deeply confusing, isolating and exhausting.

If this sounds familiar, you are far from alone.

SUMMIT is exploring the possibility of developing a new LikeMinds Essex peer group specifically for women navigating menopause and perimenopause alongside Autism, ADHD or other forms of neurodivergence.

The group would aim to provide a supportive and confidential space where women can connect with others who have had similar experiences, share coping strategies and practical information, learn more about their health and wellbeing, build confidence and encourage empowerment and self-advocacy.

We want to better understand what kind of support would feel genuinely helpful, understanding and accessible, and we would really value hearing about your experiences, ideas and preferences.

We’re inviting you to complete a short, completely anonymous survey. Your feedback will help shape what this new LikeMinds Essex peer group could look like and how it can best support women in our community.

Online Survey about Community Micro-enterprises.

Community Micro‑Enterprises (CME) are very small, local businesses—typically with eight or less staff—that provide highly personalised care and support. They offer a wide range of services such as personal care, cleaning, activities, trade services, therapies and wellbeing support. Focused on enhancing independence and wellbeing, they deliver flexible, tailored help and are often run by local people for their own communities, offering an alternative to larger organisations and care agencies.

Thurrock and Essex Councils are running CME projects to make sure people who receive Direct Payments or pay for their own care have enough local, personalised services to choose from. They have agreed to work together so that their CME projects run in the same way across both Councils. To achieve this, they want to work with people – rather than making decisions alone – to develop a shared approach for how they welcome and set up new micro‑enterprises. They aim to make sure the process and requirements for joining their programmes are proportionate, practical, and based on what people who use these services truly need and want.

Thurrock and Essex Councils are asking for feedback from people who use CMEs, Direct Payments recipients, family carers, micro-enterprise owners, and social care professionals. Thurrock and Essex Councils would really appreciate if you could take a few minutes to complete their online survey.

You don’t need any prior knowledge of micro‑enterprises to take part—they want to hear from as many different perspectives as possible.

Feeling overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, low mood, or difficulties getting to sleep? You’re not alone. Life has become increasingly challenging, and many of us are finding it hard to cope with the pressure of everyday life.

That is why our free 10-week Modern Mindfulness programme is designed to fit around modern demands and busy schedules, helping you build a healthier, more positive relationship with yourself and the world around you.

Grounded in science rather than spirituality, each session focuses on practical mindfulness techniques you can use day to day. Through simple, accessible practices centred on the body and the breath, you’ll learn skills to help reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, strengthen focus and memory, boost confidence, and build emotional resilience.

Our next Modern Mindfulness course begins in early July, with sessions available both online or in person at SUMMIT House. You can also access optional one-to-one support if you’d benefit from more personalised guidance, and thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, this is all completely free. For everyone.

We’re excited to introduce Zenergi Mindfulness, a new 10 week mindful coaching and guided meditation programme designed specifically for young people aged 17-25.

Life can feel overwhelming at times, and these sessions aim to create a safe, supportive space where young adults can better understand their thoughts, emotions, and overall wellbeing.

Throughout the programme, participants will have the opportunity to learn, reflect, and grow at their own pace while building confidence, self-awareness, and practical coping strategies. The sessions also encourage the development of positive habits that support long-term emotional wellbeing and resilience, helping young people navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity, balance, and self-understanding.

To find out more about our Zenergi Mindfulness and Movement programmes, or to express interest in joining a future session, please visit www.summitservices.org.uk/zenergi.
