Southampton, let’s come together! Saturday 20th of June - Assemble at 12:00pm outside Waitrose SO17 2FX.
We must stand strong and united to block hate, violence, and intimidation from spreading across our community. Neighbours and local businesses deserve to feel safe, not threatened or silenced. Together, we can ensure that racism and the exploitation of real tragedies for selfish agendas have no place here.
By blocking off Portswood, we send a clear message: We stand against division, and we stand for compassion, dignity, and unity. Call your friends. Tell your families. Rally your neighbours.

'CARNIVAL AGAINST FASCISM'

SATURDAY 13 JUNE
Anti-fascists meet 11 am, Queens Road, Brighton.

The far-right are targeting Brighton once again. Why? Because they view it as a progressive city which is multicultural, diverse and inclusive, with well represented LGBTQ+ communities. All the things they hate.

Around 15 years ago their predecessors, the so-called ‘March For England’ (none of whom actually came from Brighton), held a series of annual marches in the city. Each time they marched they threatened, abused and assaulted locals based on their ethnicity and sexuality. Eventually locals had enough and organised ever bigger counter-demos, culminating in 2014 when huge numbers came out to oppose and vastly outnumber the fascist march. The fascists were so roundly humiliated on that occasion that they did not return.

Until this year.

THIS IS WHAT COMMUNITY LOOKS LIKE!

A rainbow coalition of anti-fascists and anti-racists has been organising and mobilising resistance for many weeks now. Grassroots activities have included public meetings, street stalls, banner making workshops, benefit gigs, history talks, networking events and much more. Organised opposition will be big.

Brighton is asking us to come together and unite to give the far-right the welcome that they deserve.

A statement from Stand Up To Racism nationally

As the trial relating to the tragic death of Henry Nowak continues and receives widespread local and national media coverage, we are deeply concerned that far-right groups are attempting to exploit this tragedy to spread division, hatred and fear in our city.

Southampton Stand Up To Racism extends its condolences to the family and loved ones of Henry Nowak during this profoundly difficult time.

People in Southampton are justified in asking questions and to seek accountability. Any death involving police contact must be treated seriously, transparently and with full public scrutiny. We urge everyone to allow the judicial process to proceed fairly and without prejudice.

We welcome the recent statement issued by Sikh organisations and communities across the country, which called for unity and warned against drawing broad assumptions or judgments about an entire faith or community based on an individual case.

At the same time, the openly fascist group White Vanguard, whose organisers are from outside Southampton, and the far-right “Southampton Patriots” are attempting to use this tragedy for their own political agenda.

While the "Southampton Patriots" have sought to distance themselves publicly from White Vanguard, they continue to promote rhetoric designed to inflame tensions and undermine the diversity and unity that define Southampton.

Their slogans around “two-tier policing” are not about seeking justice or fairness. They are part of a wider attempt to sow mistrust, fear and division. We urge all right-minded people in Southampton not to give credibility to those seeking to turn tragedy into hatred.

Southampton is a diverse city where people of different backgrounds, faiths and communities live together peacefully. We reject all attempts to divide our city along racial or religious lines. Let us respond to this tragedy with unity, compassion and solidarity — not hatred.

Neo-N**i group White Vanguard are planning a protest at Portswood Police Station this weekend. They want to use the tragic killing of Henry Nowak to spread division, hatred & fear in our city. We must stand united against the threat of fascism.

Thank you to everyone who came to the demonstration opposite Wootton Bridge Community Centre yesterday evening in opposition to the Katie Hopkins event that was being hosted there last night and again tonight.

Hate speech is not free speech and someone who has repeatedly and unapologetically showed discrimination and called for violence against marginalised people should not be given a platform. They should definitely not have their event hosted by a 'charity' and at a community space leased from the County Council.

While her tour is branded as a 'comedy stand up', this is not merely edgy comedy. She doesn't satirise discrimination, she embodies it.
She is heavily politically aligned with the far right.

We will be holding another demonstration tonight from 6pm.

The Isle of Wight says no to the platforming of far-right propagandists, racism, xenophobia, antisemitism, Islamophobia, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, and the misuse of community spaces to push such narratives.

Called for a 'final solution' - a N**i phrase used for the Holocaust, in what appeared to be a call for genocide to be used as a collective punishment on a minority

Made dehumanising comments towards migrants and refugees, referring to them as "cockroaches" and "a plague of feral humans"

Said "gunships" should be used to "stop migrants"

Tweeted racism targeting Black people, writing: "Dear black people. If your lives matter why do you stab and shoot each other so much"

Affiliated with neo-N**is and Holocaust deniers
