With over £40m endowment from the Big Lottery Fund, we work in partnership with other organisations to develop and fund projects that take the London Olympics 2012 spirit forward in the UK. Our goal is to enable people to take an active part in their communities through sport, art and cultural activity, education and volunteering; and by doing so to improve their own lives and those of others. We

will also encourage all our partners to collaborate and to share their own networks, tools and experiences as a way of helping the resource we have to go further and to make a difference to more people’s lives.

Our Story

Spirit of 2012 is the London 2012 legacy charity. We invest in happiness by funding projects that enable people to be active, creative and connected.

The National Lottery Community Fund founded Spirit of 2012 in 2013 with a £47m endowment to continue and recreate the spirit of pride, positivity and social connectedness that inspired people across the UK during the London 2012 Games.

Spirit awards grants for community based arts, sports and volunteering activities that bring people together to improve their wellbeing. Our grantees range from national organisations to small, hyper-local ones.

We will also encourage all our partners to collaborate and to share their own networks, tools and experiences as a way of helping the resource we have to go further and to make a difference to more people’s lives.
