The City of London Business Traineeship programme works through local schools to raise awareness of the career opportunities in the City and brings together able school and college leavers with City-type firms for paid placements of between 6-13 weeks. About
The City of London Business Traineeship (CBT) Programme was established by the City of London Corporation in 1994 to provide students
leaving schools and colleges in neighbouring boroughs with paid work placements in City businesses. The scheme introduces young people to employment opportunities in the City, whilst also promoting local recruitment to City firms. For many firms, the scheme is an excellent fit with their agenda to promote diversity in the workplace, whilst also providing a talented source of local labour. Description
The scheme now places around 90 students into a range of City firms each year, including companies in the financial, insurance, accountancy and legal sectors. They then have the opportunity to participate in a series of CV, interview and sector-specific workshops, before being put forward for a placement. The programme culminates in an annual celebration event to mark the achievement of students and firms involved in the programme. The CBT Programme is delivered on the City of London Corporation’s behalf by the Brokerage Citylink, a City-based charity assisting local job seekers into City employment. Are you eligible? To be eligible for the City of London Business Traineeship programme you must meet the following criteria:
* Be completing A levels or equivalent.
* Live or study in one of the following boroughs: Camden, Hackney, Islington, Lambeth, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Westminster.
* Attend a state school or college.
* Have achieved at least GCSE grade B in English and Maths GCSE.
* Be eligible to work in the UK. You will be required to produce proof of the above.
