Good morning everyone;) The journey doesn’t end when you get clean. It doesn’t end when the applause fades. It doesn’t end when you pick up a chip, celebrate a year, or even ten. The journey continues. It continues on the days you don’t feel like showing up. It continues when old thoughts knock on your door. It continues when life tests you in ways that have nothing to do with substances and everything to do with character. Recovery isn’t a finish line — it’s a direction. It’s waking up and choosing growth over comfort. It’s choosing honesty when it would be easier to hide. It’s choosing humility when pride starts whispering. It’s choosing faith when fear gets loud. The journey continues in the small moments: Making the next right decision. Owning your mistakes. Forgiving yourself. Extending grace to others. Staying teachable. You don’t “arrive.” You evolve. And if you’re anything like me, you’ve learned that the journey isn’t just about staying clean — it’s about becoming the man or woman you were always meant to be. It’s about repairing what was broken. It’s about showing up for your family. It’s about living in a way that honors the second chance you were given. The journey continues because growth never stops. Healing goes deeper. Character gets stronger. Faith gets bolder. And here’s the truth — that’s a gift. Because as long as the journey continues, so does your purpose. Keep walking. Keep building. Keep choosing the next right thing. You’re not done. You’re just getting started. I love you all so much. You already know…CLEAN & SOBER THAT’S WHAT’S UP!

You don’t control the storm.
You control how ready you are when it arrives.

Most people waste energy wishing things were easier.
A few quietly prepare—and walk through the same rain differently.

The difference isn’t luck.
It’s readiness.

Prepare early. Move steady. Stay covered.

Stay safe and take the time to look after yourself.

Wellbeing Wednesday
Urge surfing...such a helpful thing to learn how to do, to realise that our thoughts, feelings and urges call all seem to compel us to act or react in a situation, but it is possible to just notice and observe those urges, and maybe even distract and do something differently, until the urge passes. Can be really helpful when working on any type of addiction 🤗

Over the last two years I have spent a lot of time sitting with people who are going through tough or confusing chapters.
My experience is that things start to change when people see their situation differently. Not forced positivity. Not pretending. Just honest clarity.

People do not need fixing. They need a solid and honest space where they can talk openly without judgement or pressure.
If you ever need that kind of space I am here.

Stop taking it personally.
Life isn't punishing you. It's forging you.
Think about a sword. To make it sharp, you have to heat it, beat it, and grind it. If metal had feelings, that process would be torture. But the result is a weapon.
You are in the fire right now. It hurts. I get it. But you are coming out of this sharper, harder, and more dangerous than before.
Stand tall.

Anger is expensive… most men never read the receipt until it clears their account. One hot moment can cost you years of peace… freedom… relationships… reputation. You dont rise to your potential in rage… you fall to your lack of discipline. A calm man sees options… an angry man sees tunnels. And tunnels only lead one way. Pause is power. Breath is strategy. Self control is strength. Real men dont react… they respond. Because choices made in anger dont come with refunds… rewinds… or mercy. Master your emotions or they will master you in public. Control the fire or watch it burn everything you worked for 💯 xx

Critics of Narcotics Anonymous (NA) typically focus on its dogmatic approach to addiction, its quasi-religious foundation, and its friction with modern evidence-based medical treatments. While many individuals find lifelong support in the program, others criticize it for being a "one-size-fits-all" model that may not be effective for everyone.
Core Criticisms of Narcotics Anonymous
Conflict with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT): A major point of contention is NA's traditional stance on total abstinence. Members using life-saving medications like methadone or buprenorphine may be viewed as not "clean," which can lead to social exclusion, such as being asked not to speak in meetings or being discouraged from taking prescribed medications.
Emphasis on "Powerlessness": Critics argue that the first step—admitting powerlessness over addiction—can be psychologically disempowering. This framing may undermine self-efficacy and personal agency, which are vital for many in their recovery process.
Rigidity and "Cult-like" Dynamics: Some former members describe a high level of "group-think" and pressure to conform to specific program language and rituals. The insistence that NA is the "only way" to stay sober can lead to feelings of failure or "apostasy" if a member chooses to leave.
Scientific and Empirical Scrutiny: Unlike clinical therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), NA's success is difficult to measure due to its anonymous nature. Some studies suggest success rates for 12-step programs alone are below 10%, though active involvement often correlates with better outcomes.
Pseudo-Religious Nature: Although NA describes itself as spiritual rather than religious, critics point out that the 12 steps frequently refer to "God" or a "Higher Power". This can alienate atheists, agnostics, or individuals from non-Christian backgrounds.
Safety and Predatory Behavior: There have been reports of "13th stepping," a slang term for veteran members preying on newcomers for sexual or romantic purposes. The lack of professional oversight or background checks for members can create risks, particularly for women and adolescents.
Failure to Address Root Causes: NA's primary focus is on the behavior of using drugs. Critics argue it often neglects the underlying psychological trauma, mental health disorders, or socio-economic factors that drive addiction.
Alternative Recovery Models
For those who find NA's model ineffective or unappealing, several secular and science-based alternatives exist:
SMART Recovery: Focuses on self-empowerment and tools derived from CBT.
Secular Organizations for Sobriety (S.O.S.): A non-religious network emphasizing personal responsibility.
LifeRing Secular Recovery: Emphasizes a "Sober Self" that manages recovery without a higher power.
Recovery Dharma: Uses Buddhist-inspired principles such as meditation and mindfulness.
Criticism of 12-Step Groups: Is It Warranted? -Did it work for you ?.
