Who's joining us tonight for our Adult ADHD Zoom Meet-up?
Thursday, the 4th of June @ 7pm (GMT)

I'm really looking forward to seeing both familiar faces and welcoming new attendees this evening. There's still space available on Zoom, and we'd love for you to join us.

Whether you're newly exploring ADHD, waiting for an assessment, recently diagnosed, or have been living with ADHD for years, you are very welcome.

Our meet-ups offer a supportive, understanding space to connect with other adults who truly "get it."

It's an opportunity to share experiences, learn from one another, ask questions, and feel less alone in your ADHD journey.

Some evenings, we invite guest speakers to explore topics related to ADHD, and at other times we simply come together for open conversation, support, and connection.

Every session is different, but the sense of community is always at its heart.

If youโ€™d like to join us tonight, you can find all the details here:

See you later tonight!

ADHD and Resilience Study

There is some evidence that individuals with ADHD have a tendency to perform well in a "crisis situation", such as an emergency at work or a vehicle accident.
The aim of the study is to see if there is a significant difference between those who have ADHD-like personality attributes as opposed to those whose behaviour scores more neurotypically.
To achieve this, we are seeking around 100 individuals from the general population to complete a questionnaire. The questionnaire will ask general information about you (Age range, Occupation type, gender, etc.).

ADHD Tip: Activating Tasks โ€“ From Planning to Doing

Ever made a plan, and then watched it gather dust? You're not alone.

For ADHD brains, planning is only half the journey; the real challenge is activating the task. That magical (and often elusive) moment when you actually start.

Here's the truth: activation often needs structure + support.
Try breaking it down like this ๐Ÿ‘‡
Step 1: Cue the Brain
Pick a specific start time or pair the task with a daily habit (like "right after coffee").

Step 2: Lower the Barrier
What's the very first micro-step? (No pressure โ€” open the doc, find the email, grab your bag.)

Step 3: Externalise It
Say it out loud, write it down, or text a friend. Making it real helps make it doable.

Step 4: Celebrate the Start
Because starting is success. The rest? You'll build momentum as you go.

If this sounds like you, you should know this: you need strategies to get started. Let's find the tools that work for your brain.

Why Attend? What are the benefits?

Connecting with other adults with ADHD can create a sense of community and belonging. By attending meetups, adults with ADHD can connect with others who understand their challenges and experiences, creating a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

In face-to-face meetups, individuals can share their experiences, challenges, and successes with ADHD. This exchange of information can be incredibly valuable as it allows participants to learn from one another, gain insights into coping strategies, and discover new techniques for managing symptoms.

Meetups provide an excellent opportunity to network and build connections with other adults who have ADHD. These connections can lead to new friendships, potential collaborations, or job opportunities. Building a network of supportive individuals sharing similar experiences can benefit various aspects of life.

Join the adult ADHD support group to connect and learn! Meetings offer insights and support to help navigate ADHD. We hold two meet-ups every month.

From Overwhelmed to Empowered โ€“ Andy's Journey with Adult ADHD

When Andy was first diagnosed with ADHD, like so many others, they were left wondering, "What now?" The experience felt isolating and overwhelming โ€“ until a late-night Google search led them to one of my local ADHD social meetups.

In Andy's words:
"I was so nervous, I sat in the car park for almost 30 minutes before it started, overthinking going in. But I was made to feel very welcome and was soon at ease once I met people who were actually like me. We really are not alone, and Bernadette helps bring us together."

Since that day, Andy has attended every single meetup and recently completed my 8-week Living with Adult ADHD course.

Andy lives with an amnesia disorder alongside ADHD, so having printable workbooks after each session became a lifeline:
"It means I can refer back whenever I need to, especially when I'm going through a tough ADHD phase."

What touched me the most was this reflection:
"Bernadette has helped me understand not only how to gain some control over my condition but how to be more kind to myself. I've grown in confidence and had no idea just how deeply ADHD affects everyday life. I'm incredibly happy I took the leap and did the course."

Andy โ€“ thank you for showing up, for sharing your story, and for reminding others they're not alone.

If you're feeling stuck after an ADHD diagnosis and don't know where to turn, maybe this is your sign to take a chance, too.

๐Ÿ“… The next course starts soon

Week 4: Emotional Regulation & RSD: When Small Remarks Hit Like Big Waves

If you live with adult ADHD, you might know the feelingโ€ฆ

A passing comment. A raised eyebrow.
And suddenly, it feels like a tidal wave crashing over you.

In week 4 of our course, we dive into one of the most emotionally charged aspects of ADHD:
โžก๏ธ Emotional Regulation
โžก๏ธ Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD)

People with ADHD often experience:
๐Ÿ”ธ Rapid mood shifts
๐Ÿ”ธ Emotional overwhelm
๐Ÿ”ธ Heightened sensitivity to criticism or perceived rejection

These arenโ€™t character flaws โ€” theyโ€™re brain-based responses. And understanding them is the first step toward managing them with more self-compassion and control.

Weโ€™ll explore tools to help you:
โœ… Name and normalise emotional experiences
โœ… Build self-soothing strategies
โœ… Set boundaries that protect your peace
Youโ€™re not โ€œtoo sensitive,โ€ and your emotions make sense.

Letโ€™s work with your brain and build lasting strategies.
