The Hunger Project UK

The Hunger Project UK Our vision is a world without hunger.

Our mission is to facilitate individual and collective action to transform the systems of inequity that create hunger and cause it to persist. We carry this out with an approach that is based on three fundamental pillars that, when combined, empower people to make sustainable progress in overcoming hunger and poverty:\

• Mobilising people at the grassroots
• Supporting women as key change agents
• Forging partnerships with local government

Our vision is a world without hunger. Where every person has the resources, opportunity, and dignity to thrive.

Ending hunger is not just about food; it’s about educating communities, supporting women’s leadership, and transforming the systems that hold people back.

Together, we can make this vision a reality.

This World Hunger Day, we're thinking about food differently.

🍽️What does your next meal cost? A coffee and croissant? A lunch out? A dinner with friends?

The same amount could screen a child for malnutrition, train a community leader, or equip a woman with life-changing nutritional knowledge.

Every amount makes a difference.

Hunger is a solvable math problem, not an inevitability.

Everything that you think you know about global hunger is wrong, and we are going to tell you why.

This , we’re looking at the systems, not just the symptoms.

The end of hunger is in our hands.

Change is already happening. For the first time since 2017, global hunger is beginning to decline. Farmers are regenerating their land. Women are leading local governments. Youth are launching climate-smart innovations. Communities are organising for their own development.

This progress is fragile and far from enough, but it signals something powerful: a hunger-free future is possible.

World Hunger Day is 28 May.

Every year on 28 May, the world comes together for one powerful purpose, and this year, the message is clearer than ever: The End of Hunger is in Our Hands.

True change is local, and this we're celebrating the innovators making it happen. The end of hunger is in our hands. Let's not let up now. 💙

World Hunger Day, founded by The Hunger Project in 2011, is a reminder that hunger is not inevitable, and that ending it is within our reach. For the first time since 2017, hunger levels are declining, not by accident, but because of people. Farmers. Women. Youth. Community leaders who are changing the narrative and empowering those around them.

Help us celebrate World Hunger Day by sharing this post and spreading awareness about our work.

Real change happens when communities decide what comes next. 💛

In Mozambique, The Hunger Project works alongside local communities to empower women and men to lead solutions to hunger and poverty. Through training, leadership development, and support for local initiatives, communities are strengthening networks, improving livelihoods, and making decisions that reflect their priorities and culture.

When communities lead, solutions are sustainable, inclusive, and transformative. Support locally-led change in Mozambique today.

28,789 people.

As part of The Hunger Project-led training, 28,789 people have trained in water and sanitation.

Water and sanitation awareness should be an essential part of global dialogues- yet it is often neglected.

Our holistic approach looks at the whole system that keeps hunger in place. Together, we can break this cycle of hunger and poverty.
