Science Projects

Science Projects Science Projects specialises in the field of interactive exhibits. They have a science centre, travelling exhibitions and a design & build service.

Science Projects was set-up in 1986 as a non-profit organisation ‘dedicated to the promotion of science to the public by creating interactive exhibitions’. Since then, they have created exhibits for hundreds projects around the world, reaching an audience of millions. The organisation is different not only because it designs and builds exhibits; they also run a successful science centre and travel

ling exhibitions. Importantly, their underlying philosophical roots have always been committed to the promotion of learning.

One of the latest NORLYS installations now in place - an outdoor exhibition and initiative developed with Experimentarium in Denmark.

Good to see the Earth Balance units installed and out in the landscape as part of the wider series of interactive exhibits created for NORLYS charging parks. More sites still to come.

Hands-on water exhibits continue to be a strong draw for visitors of all ages.

💧 Reflect local industries and context
💧 Include areas for both younger children and older visitors
💧 Balance open-ended exploration with faster-paced, collaborative challenges
💧 Introduce topics like energy, sustainability and the environment within one exhibit

We’ve been developing water exhibits for over 30 years. If you’re considering one for your space, feel free to get in touch to talk it through.

Early stages of a new water interactive. The base layers and details have been drawn in CAD and machined, ready for assembly in the water tanks. This will form part of a larger system, guiding water through the exhibit once in operation.
It’s at this stage that the design starts to move from drawing into something physical.

Early stages of a large water interactive currently in development.

The duck race starts with the squirters, sending water through the course to move the ducks towards the finish. From CAD model to the first assembled components, the exhibit is starting to take shape.

What element is hiding inside the box? Scan the object. Discover what it’s made from. See exactly where those elements sit on the periodic table.

This interactive brings everyday materials into direct conversation with chemistry - turning abstract symbols into something tangible.

A container crane game is taking shape in the workshop, building on our water exhibit at VilVite , first installed over a decade ago.

The large-scale exhibit brings together a series of interlinked activities exploring the water cycle, reservoirs and dams, hydroelectric power, and hands-on experiments. Stainless steel snow-capped mountains form the centrepiece, with houses that illuminate as water is diverted to drive a working turbine.

The crane game sits within this wider environment, adding another practical layer to an already highly interactive exhibit.

Jodrell Bank's interactive Orrery is back at SP for a clean and service after 13 years of operation.

This 5 metre wide, hand-driven piece of precision engineering is spending time in the workshop, helping ensure it continues to run smoothly for years to come.

Built for their Discovery Centre, it allows visitors to set the whole mechanism in motion themselves, offering a direct, hands-on way to explore our place in the Universe.
