Calling all Craft & Green-Fingered Enthusiasts! 🌿

We have a couple of tables still available to hire for anyone selling crafts etc at our Garden Fair taking place in East Barnet Baptist Church Hall on Saturday 23rd May.

We’re also gratefully accepting plant donations and garden-themed items for us to sell on the day. 🌸🪴

This morning we commemorated those who fell at the Battle of Barnet on 14th April 1471 with a service of commemoration led by the Revd Francesco Aresco, Rector of St Mary the Virgin Monken Hadley. Wreaths were laid at the monument to honour those who died on this day 555 years ago. We are grateful to Francesco for creating such a moving service, which included this prayer:
'O God, before whom all time is present,
in whose sight the living
and the dead are one company:
receive those who fell on this ground,
hold them in that place where morning has no fog,
where the factions of the world
are seen at last for what they were:
passing and forgiven.
And leave us here the wiser for having stood
at this stone, in this light,
remembering.
Through Christ our Lord,
Amen'.

The High Street needs your help. Together with local businesses and Barnet Council we are making great progress but we still need your help to make our locality the cleanest and most litter free place to live, shop and enjoy. Please join us on Saturday from 10am to 2pm. Together we can make a difference.

Phase two of the electrical works at Chipping Barnet Library will start on Monday 23 February.

The first floor of the library will be closed from this date until Sunday 22 March with no access to the study area or adult non-fiction collection.

The whole library will be closed on Monday 23 February until 2pm when the downstairs will re-open.

During this time, we expect there to be slightly more noise than usual. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Local elections in Barnet will take place on Thurs 7 May. Barnet’s 63 councillors will be elected for the next 4 years across the borough’s 24 wards.
