These little sweethearts are really growing fast especially now their holding down food. It's taken quite a while for them to settle but time, patience and hard work is paying off.
They are still on a specific diet but now 50/50 between steamed chicken and decent kitten food.
The homemade cat food approach has really made all the difference but buying chicken fillets and the supplements needed for it as well as the expensive kitten food is really draining my funds and the Stray Cat Chesterfield funds too.

They are all going to see a new vet tomorrow courtesy of much needed help from the Sheffield Cat Shelter.
They have helped tremendously especially this year in saving so many unwanted pregnancies from a recent overcrowding situation I have now hopefully (with lots of help from several rescues) got under control.
More about this in another post !

These kittens came from that same situation and will hopefully soon have a much better future ahead once all the vet checks, tests, Neutering, chipping etc had been done.

We still need to raise money towards this however.
Despite the big shelter helping me we still need funds.
I will speak to the shelter about potential deposits directly to their vet account for the work they will be doing with these kittens.

Please in the meantime if you can help then donate to Stray Cat Chesterfield -

All funds from this account goes straight to the cats care.
Sometimes it's food or flea / worm treatment but it usually vets bills.
I still have other stray cats to tend to as well as trying to sort out the kittens so any donation is much appreciated πŸ™πŸ»

Thanks for following and updates to come soon 🐾😼❀️

Forever home at last πŸ™πŸ» Phillip now known as Flip Flop

Thank you again to all that helped with donations and food etc.
The lucky new cat mum is the lady who actually made some food for him that really helped him settle his poorly digestion!
I guess he melted her heart when she came to meet him. Or should I say Meat πŸ˜πŸ˜ΌπŸΎπŸ™πŸ»
I went to see how he was doing after almost 2 weeks with her and I was blessed with cuddles and purrs.
What an amazing outcome for him.
Thank you for taking him in and caring for him with his special dietary requirements πŸ™πŸ»πŸΎπŸ˜Όβ€οΈ

Philip Update

He needs a home. A special home!
A home where he can spend the rest of his limited life with love and a very carefully monitored diet. He is old and I'm worried no one will want him because of his age and needs.

If he eats the wrong food then his stomach gets upset.
If you rush towards him he will hiss at growl with fear.

However..

Recently he has shown me his kind and loving side more and more each day. I have come to the conclusion he has been very neglected and very likely abused.

With the correct approach he will greet with playful headbuts and purr away.
He has also started to meow at me occasionally and he has a very unique sounding meow too. A real characterful low Mr meow.
He will roll over and let me belly rub followed by gentle bunny kicks.
He shows all the signs of knowing what it was once like to be loved and each time we meet his trust in me is getting better.

He was never a true feral but he seems to have been left to become one.
I assume he was once a pet and for a short while, maybe someone showed him love.
However, I do believe he was left behind or given to someone who didn't know how to look after him or maybe they just didn't care.
I believe he was hurt by someone and then then left to fend for himself.
Only eating whatever he could for possibly years and years.
The state of his fur and his out of balance digestive system are all signs of an ugly past he has now left behind.

So now his hair is growing back, his belly is settling down and showing what a true gentleman he really is.
A gentleman that needs a very steadily paced way of life now.
No rushing about, no cheap food and only the best comfort will he now accept 😸

Unfortunately he can't go back to where he came from.
Despite best efforts we decided that a shelter in a garden was not the best way this old boy is going to outlive his days.
We also can't risk him going around the area scavenging for any food he may find as this will most likely upset his belly.
We have done SO much work on him to get his gut working right again and we don't wanna take the risk of sending him off balance again.
The key is decent food / decent probiotics and consistency!

If you feel like you can offer Phillip his forever home then please send a message directly to myself Edda Jayne or Stray Cat Chesterfield.
Meet and greet (maybe with a growl) and if you can get him purring within the first 15 minutes then you will definitely qualify to be his forever parent πŸ™πŸ»πŸΎπŸ˜Έ

Another call for help πŸ™πŸ»πŸΎπŸ˜Ό

I don't post everything I do on Facebook but that doesn't mean to say I'm not doing anything.
For many different reasons I often keep some things out of the public domain and this has been the case for over a month now. (Apart from Old Phillip of course)

Without going into any details I have gotten care of 3 youngster kits and it's possible that some or all of them may be transferred into a different rescue but for now and the next few weeks (maybe months) they are here in my care and I desperately need some stuff 😼

Advantage flea treatment. 1 to 4 kg! (It's okay for kittens this size)

Pancacur kitten worming granules (I have enough for now but will need some more)

Cat litter, the clay based stuff clumping if possible, cheap stuff is fine.

Kitten food. These have upset tummies so the cheaper stuff won't be good enough. Something like AVA or Purina Pro Plan or Purina one, that kinda price range will be fine.

Same kind of quality kitten biscuits too.

Probiotic powder like the Purina forti flora or probiotic paste should be a good help to ease the sh*ts they have.

I need to get them to the vets soon but I do have concerns over one particularly so he needs to go for a check up asap. My funding for Phillip has almost gone and he still needs a second appointment so please help πŸ™πŸ»

Please make a donation if you can to-

Or you can leave a donation into my vets account. Please PM me for the details of said vet account.

Please help if you can.
I do not have an Amazon wishlist because I don't have an account with them.

If you can get us any of this stuff I'm happy to drive to collect it from you or you can drop it off here and meet the kits.

Thank you for your continued support through this hard time πŸ™πŸ»πŸΎπŸ˜Όβ€οΈ

Little update on Phillip (photo version)
Phil the pheral.

Actually not feral just as I thought.
Recently made a breakthrough in his behavior and he clearly likes a head rub which I believe he's had before but probably quite some time ago!

My thinking is he was (1) abandoned some time ago and never really looked after properly or (2) just never really been looked after properly or shown much love or interaction and the owner passed away or just left him behind.

He certainly had started a life of becoming feral and to fend for himself becoming dependent on whatever food he could get from local humans.
The poor lad had such a bad stomach when he came here and it's really hard to know how they are until you have them in isolation and then you can see the contents of the litter box.
Sounds gross but it's so important!
Also his fur was getting quite badly matted and it was clear he was in a poor state of health and letting himself go, by not cleaning or looking after himself anymore.

Much appreciation to my friend (you know who you are) who made several batches of food for him, absolutely fit for a king. She also provided some very high quality probiotics and supplements to add to the steamed chicken she made for him. So important to make it a complete and cat friendly meal.
This made such a difference but after a few days it was still clear he needed more than just a change in diet.

He went to the vets who were absolutely fabulous with him and sent us home with a course of antibiotics specifically aimed for gut infection / parasitic infection.
This made a tremendous difference and got him on the way to becoming more normal in the litter box department.
While he was at the vets we tested bloods and I was absolutely astonished to hear he did NOT have FIV or kidney disease.
He was high in other parameters however which the vet said would be expected with his awful gut problems.

10 days later -

I am now trying to transition him over to a more normal (but high quality) cat food but it's proving to be a challenge.
He is still needing plenty of support with his sensitive stomach with the aid of probiotics and binder paste.
We do hope it will settle soon during this transition period. If needed we can always go back to the vets for more advice and possible treatment for this.

We are hoping that soon he will settle and then we can think of phase two, getting him re grounded with his feeder and their home.
We do not expect anyone would take him in but welcome any offers to consider!?

He is quite an old cat so he needs the rest of his days treating with respect and love (on his terms) 🐾😼

As always any donations welcome to put towards his rather specific and expensive diet πŸ™πŸ»πŸ˜ΌπŸΎ

Update on this boy we call Phillip.
He needs help!

He is quite poorly and will have to go back to the vets which is not going to be easy given his temperament.
After several days in recovery it's becoming apparent he has health issues.
We need to at the very least get him on a course of antibiotics.

He is on gastro food, probiotics and binder paste but he persists to have chronic diarrhea which is a terrible thing for both him and myself to deal with.
He will probably need tests as well.
He is also quite old so the outcome may not be the best but either way we need to get him back to the vets and unfortunately Stray Cat Chesterfield has no money to pay for this. Gastro food, binder and probiotics have seen the last of our funds.

Please if you would like to help then make a donation so we can assist with this guy.
Anything would be much appreciated but this time it's vets bills that will need to be paid for.

If every follower just put down Β£1 (Just ONE Quid) a pound then that would help get the appointment!

Thank you in advance πŸ™πŸ»
