Amazing 👏

What a first week!

This week we officially welcomed our first group of young people through the doors of Cairo Amplified, and it has been brilliant to finally see everything we’ve been working towards come to life.

We have a fantastic mix of young people with different interests, personalities and levels of musical experience. Some have been playing for a while, some are just starting out but what has been especially lovely to see is how quickly everyone has settled in together, despite not knowing each other before the programme started.

There’s already plenty of music, laughter and encouragement in the room, and we can see the beginnings of new friendships forming.

Our musicians have started working together as a band and are learning their first song.

We’ve also kicked off our Media & Backstage / Sound & Lighting sessions, introducing the young people to photography, different camera angles, composition and how media is used to capture and promote live music.

After Week One, we’re incredibly excited about what the next nine weeks are going to bring.

We’re only one week into our 10-week programme, so young people can still come along and get involved.

📱💻 NEW – TEA, TECH & CONNECT! ☕

We’re excited to announce that Let’s Connect has been awarded Digital Inclusion funding from Rural Action Derbyshire, supported by Derbyshire County Council, helping us provide friendly, accessible digital support right here in Hasland.

⏰ 10am–12pm

Whether you’re completely new to technology, need help with a particular task, or just want someone to guide you through something that’s causing you a headache, pop in and see us!
We can help with things such as using phones, tablets and laptops, accessing NHS online services, online shopping, internet access, printing documents, Microsoft Office, online safety, avoiding fraud and scams, and much more.

💻 Bring your own device or borrow one of ours while you're here.
And it’s not just about technology! Tea, Tech & Connect is also a chance to get out of the house, meet new people, have a chat and enjoy FREE refreshments in a relaxed and welcoming environment. ☕🍪

❤️ We’re also looking for volunteers!
You don’t need to be a computer expert. We’re looking for friendly, patient people who could offer digital or peer support. Digital training can be provided.

No need to feel embarrassed about asking for help — whether it’s something big or small, just drop in and ask.

Know a young person who loves music but hasn’t quite found their people yet?

Creative Connections starts THIS WEEK in Chesterfield and we still have a few places available.

We’ve created this programme particularly with young people in mind who may be autistic or otherwise neurodivergent, experience anxiety or low confidence, or simply find new groups and social situations difficult.

You do not need a diagnosis to join us. And you don’t need to be confident, experienced, or already know exactly what you want to do.

Wednesday 4–5pm – Band Sessions
Wednesday 5–6pm – Media, Content & Backstage
Thursday 4–5pm – Band Sessions
Thursday 5–6pm – Sound & Lighting

You can play an instrument, sing, learn live sound and lighting, get behind a camera, create content or discover what happens backstage at a live event.

No auditions. No experience needed. No pressure to perform.
We have instruments and equipment here, so you don’t need to bring your own.

📅 Starts Wednesday 30 September
💜 FREE for 10 weeks

The programme will finish with a live showcase in December — whether you want to be on the stage or part of the team making it happen behind the scenes.
