On Thursday, Chester Women's Aid was proud to join The Lord Mayor of Chester for the launch of her civic thematic year, Harmony in Every Community and Every Home.

It was inspiring to join partners, charities, agencies, faith groups and community organisations from across Cheshire West and Chester, all committed to creating safer communities and homes where everyone feels valued, respected and free from abuse.

Following the launch, we attended the Cheshire West and Chester Domestic Abuse Board, of which we are a member. The Board brings local partners together to strengthen collaboration through a shared action plan. Working in partnership is essential to supporting people experiencing domestic abuse, raising awareness and driving meaningful, lasting change across our communities.

We welcome the Lord Mayor's focus on harmony in every community and every home and look forward to continuing to work alongside local partners to ensure everyone has the opportunity to live safely and thrive.

Together, we can create stronger communities, safer homes and a future free from domestic abuse.

Today marks the end of an extraordinary year of service for the Lord Mayor of Chester, from the bottom of our hearts, we want to say thank you.

Sherin has given her entire year to the people of Chester, completing over 400 visits to local businesses, charities and community groups. Her energy, compassion and commitment have been felt across the city, and we have been truly honoured to be one of her chosen charities.

Thanks to her incredible fundraising efforts, alongside the generosity of our community, vital funds have been raised for both Chester Women’s Aid and Heath Youth Club. This support will make a significant difference to the women, children and families our charities help every day.

We shared a special moment with Sherin and our trustees, alongside our CWA leader Rachel — a reminder of how powerful community can be when people lead with heart.

Sherin, we wish you every success in your future endeavours.
You leave behind a legacy of kindness, visibility and unwavering dedication to the people of Chester. Your impact will continue to be felt long after your term ends, and we are deeply grateful for everything you have done.

We were honoured to be invited by the Lord Mayor of Chester to an intimate thank‑you dinner at the Town Hall on Tuesday 19th May, as her year in office comes to a close this week.

The Lord Mayor has worked tirelessly throughout her term, completing 400+ visits to businesses and community groups across Chester, and her dedication has made a real and lasting impact.
