💜 Women are significantly more likely to experience the most serious and high-risk forms of domestic abuse.

The vast majority of people accessing specialist high-risk domestic abuse services are women, highlighting the disproportionate impact that abuse has on women and girls. These figures remind us why awareness, early intervention, and access to specialist support are so important.

This Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, we're raising awareness of the realities of domestic abuse and standing with every woman affected. No one should have to face abuse alone. 💜

💜 The risk of serious harm and death is highest when a woman leaves an abusive relationship.

Leaving an abusive partner is often seen as the end of the danger, but for many survivors, it can be the most dangerous time. This is why safety planning, specialist support, and understanding from those around them are so important.

This Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, we're raising awareness of the realities survivors face and reminding women that they do not have to navigate this journey alone. Support is available every step of the way. 💜

💜 The police receive a domestic abuse-related call every 30 seconds.

Behind every call is someone reaching out for help, safety, or support. Domestic abuse affects thousands of women and families every day, which is why raising awareness and breaking the silence around abuse is so important.

This Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, we're highlighting the realities of domestic abuse and encouraging anyone affected to know that support is available. No one should have to face abuse alone. 💜

💜 How can you help a friend who may be experiencing domestic abuse?

You don't need to have all the answers. Sometimes the most important thing you can do is listen without judgement, believe what they're telling you, and let them know they're not alone.

Avoid pressuring them to leave before they're ready. Instead, offer support, help them explore their options, and encourage them to access specialist services when they feel able to do so.

This Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, remember that a supportive conversation could be the first step towards safety and recovery. 💜

💜 On average, it takes a woman seven attempts to leave an abusive partner.

Leaving an abusive relationship is a process, not a single moment. Survivors may face fear, manipulation, financial pressures, concerns for their safety, or worries about their children, making it incredibly difficult to leave for good.

This Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, let's replace judgement with understanding and remember that every step towards safety takes courage. Support, compassion, and patience can make a real difference. 💜

💜 In 2025, around one in three people experiencing domestic abuse were aged 16–24.

Domestic abuse can affect women of any age, but young women are disproportionately impacted. Raising awareness, challenging harmful behaviours, and encouraging open conversations can help ensure that those experiencing abuse know they are not alone and that support is available.

This Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, we're highlighting the realities of domestic abuse and helping to create a safer future for women and girls. 💜
