WELL - that was the most amazing thunder storm and as it passed over us it stretched from Glasgow all the way to Bridgewater. A phenomenon I have never seen in that form before. Quite unbelievable and we had one strike within yards of us, possibly a transformer earth wire which shook the house. This photo was on Net Weather radar and was a few minutes later so it had moved from Glasgow to Edinburgh. On a different subject, there appears to be wave of burglaries and vehicle thefts in the Bishops Cleeve area at the present time. Please be aware and keep your eyes open and your property protected. If you see anything suspicious pick the phone up and ring the Police.

Just returned from Flood Wardens Information Event at Stonehouse today. A very interesting day with Wardens from the Cotswolds, Stroud, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury groups. We enjoyed speakers from SevernTrent, SARA, Parishes on Line, Emergency Plans, with Training break out sessions emphasising in Communication and working with Parish Councils. The event ended with an Address from Flood Mary who has spent 25 years advising on flood resilience and supporting those who had experienced flooding. We worked with her following the 2007 floods in Tewkesbury. I had some very successful and serious discussions with our neighbours and with Borough and County Flood Management and hope to work on a plan to benefit the Parish and our neighbours. More to come!

Just so everyone understands, I started this page when I was Parish Council Chair to support the Community. Since I retired I only post Flood related and Security Related info as the long standing Flood warden and Neighbourhood watch since 1986, 40 years. Please understand that I only post items related to these subjects. To avoid any misunderstandings, I do not support or make any intentions to support any adverts or local businesses on the site. That is not personal just so everyone understands.

If it's not rain and floods, now we have a yellow warning for snow between 1600Hrs tomorrow Wednesday 18th and 0600 Thursday 19th . The likelihood is low and the impact is medium , but just be aware and ready. If it does snow. Carry sensible shoes, a warm coat and something to dig with!! Just in case,!!

13/02/2026

Not sure what to warn about first, the Swilgate is rising seriously at the moment but hopefully, it will stop before the road is closed as Wyman's Brook has been falling for an hour or so . However, the Met Office has issued a Snow and Ice warning for this evening. Please be aware of both problems!!!

06/02/2026

I have been watching river levels and rainfall all day and although there are dozens of Flood Warnings around the UK , the tributaries around us are not included. During the day, the Swilgate has been up and down and back up again. We must live in hopes and the rain has given us a breather for a couple of hours. Please be careful driving in the wet. There are some treacherous potholes in our area and I hit one outside Hayden Farm late Wednesday evening on the way back from Bristol after giving a lecture , and it nearly took the wheel off. Be Aware,! Please for your own safety!

26/01/2026

We have now received a potential flood warning for tributaries in Tewkesbury area for the next 12 hours until 10.00 am tomorrow. At the moment all our local tributaries are low so we hope that they will take anything that comes . I am just passing on the message to be aware!.

26/01/2026

Just to warn everyone, we have been advised by the Met office of another yellow warning for parts of Gloucestershire from 13.00 hrs (1.00pm) today until 10.00am tomorrow. Just be, aware. I will update as and when any further advice is given

22/01/2026

Good Morning everyone, having been in Bristol the last couple of days I have had to content myself with watching flood levels on the Swilgate and local watercourses on the telephone.
We are under a Met Office Yellow warning for rain until 4.00pm this afternoon but checking the levels ands the projected rainfall, the suggestion by the Met office that the likelihood for us is Medium and the impact predicted as low appears consistent with the present situation and hopefully was shall clear by late afternoon.
May I take this opportunity to remind you all that should you see blocked drains or pollution problems please take a photograph and report them. That request came from Severn Trent.

16/01/2026

Gosh!! Since Christmas, and before, it has been a real roller coaster!! Rain, ice, warnings of snow! Sewage and river pollution!! Thank you for your support and comments. The problems with the Tredington pumping main to Stoke Orchard continues but Severn Trent are on the case!! Please check the post from The Parish Council that came from the Flood Wardens office about driving through floods. So Important, will try to keep you informed ongoing! Just a request from EA and Severn Trent, if you note any problems. Please take photos and pass them to me so I can pass them on to the responsible authority!
