Our first in person event this evening. In partnership with Plantlife we heard (finally) some lovely bats and discovered the hidden world of biofluorescence with UV torches....all while (of course) talking about light pollution and how people can reduce their contribution to it.

We want the government to include in its revised National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) that the building of B8 warehouses and the 24/7 operation of such megasheds will not be permitted within 500 metres of residential properties.

Utterly shocking. Shocking anyway but especially so given Kent is recognised as a Seriously Water Stressed location and that this took place while so many people were without essential water for their every day needs.

Again, Campaign to Protect Rural England and CPRE Kent, The Countryside Charity are for the transition to renewable energy.... but not like this.

Rooftop and brownfield first plus a sustainable water requirement plan for solar farms is evidently needed!!

South Brook Solar Farm will be 3 times the size of Cleve Hill. Crazy and unacceptable.

Kent’s biggest solar farm used tens of thousands of litres of water from a roadside standpipe to wash its panels as people’s taps ran dry.
