From summer 2025, it will be mandatory for all charities to provide trustee information via OSCR Online. The exact date for providing trustee information will be announced shortly, however charities are encouraged to start gathering the necessary information now.

Charities will be required to submit the following details for each trustee:
1. Full name
2. Home address
3. Email address
4. Telephone number
5. Date of birth

From late 2025, the first and last names of each trustee will be published on the Scottish Charity Register, all other information provided will be for OSCR’s internal use only.

Today the Fundraising Regulator have published a new Code of Fundraising Practice. It has been designed to be clearer, more flexible and better suited to modern fundraising.

It’s up to charity trustees to make sure that their charity – and anyone fundraising on the charity’s behalf – follows the law and uses the kind of fundraising practices that will encourage the public’s continued support.

OSCR: Get ready for new charity regulations coming this year

From this summer, your charity will need to provide OSCR with details about its trustees. Then, starting at the end of 2025, full charity accounts will begin to be publicly available on the Scottish Charity Register.

These changes stem from the Charities (Regulation and Administration) (Scotland) Act 2023, which strengthens oversight and public trust in the sector. Some provisions, such as OSCR’s expanded inquiry powers, are already in effect.

There are a few things you and your fellow charity trustees should be thinking about just now including:

Providing trustee details to OSCR and the publication of trustee names
Publication of all charity accounts

The Disclosure Act will come into force on 1 April 2025, making membership of the PVG scheme a legal requirement for anyone undertaking a regulated role. This also applies to organisations with volunteers or staff performing such roles.

In this training session, you’ll learn what these changes mean for your organisation and the steps you need to take to ensure compliance.

We’ll discuss the importance of making referrals under the PVG scheme, your legal responsibilities, and practical guidance on how to meet these obligations.

Join us to ensure your organisation is fully prepared for this transition. Booking is required for these training sessions.

For anyone carrying out a regulated role and for organisations who have volunteers and/or staff carrying out a regulated role for them.
