What an amazing afternoon we had today when Ranger Ash from ZooLab came to visit us with some very special animal friends!

The children had the opportunity to meet Tonks the tarantula, Harry and Dumbledore the gerbils, a beautiful bearded dragon, a giant African land snail, a millipede and even a snake. Some of our brave children enjoyed holding and stroking the animals, while we all watched Tonks peacefully sleeping in her enclosure.

Experiences like these help children to develop curiosity about the natural world, build confidence when encountering new things and learn how to care for and respect living creatures. The children asked thoughtful questions, shared their ideas and showed great kindness and responsibility throughout the session.

Ranger Ash was absolutely wonderful with the children. Her enthusiasm, knowledge and gentle approach kept everyone engaged from start to finish. She took the time to answer every question, helped the children feel confident around the animals and made the whole experience both educational and great fun.

A huge thank you to Ranger Ash and ZooLab for such an engaging and memorable experience. There were lots of smiles, a few surprised faces and plenty of excitement as we discovered more about these fascinating animals!

The weather may have been grey today, but our nursery certainly wasn't!

Inspired by the nature around us, the children spent time creating colourful ladybird paintings. Each one was unique, with children making their own choices about colours, patterns and designs.

Art gives children the opportunity to express themselves, develop confidence in their own ideas and take pride in creating something that is entirely their own. There was lots of discussion, concentration and excitement as their ladybirds began to take shape.

Sometimes all it takes is a little paint, a lot of imagination and a rainy day to create something wonderful. 🐞🎨

A warm and friendly session for babies, toddlers and their grown-ups. Come along to play, explore, make new friends and enjoy a relaxed morning together!

📚 Bookbug
📅 Thursday
⏰ 3:00pm – 3:30pm

Join us for stories, songs and rhymes. Bookbug is a fantastic way to support early language and literacy skills while having lots of fun together. Suitable for babies through to preschool children.

All children must be accompanied by their grown-up. We look forward to seeing lots of familiar and new faces this week!

What a wonderful mix to our week at Springholm Nursery ☀️💛

From our fantastic Gaelic session on Monday, where the children explored language, songs and culture through fun and play, to another lovely Toddler Tuesday filled with smiles, friendships and community spirit, the week has been packed with rich experiences for our little learners.

Alongside this, the children have spent lots of time deeply engaged in child-led play outdoors — racing bikes, creating imaginative “recipes” in the mud kitchen, exploring sand and water, problem solving together and following their own interests and ideas. These moments may look simple, but they are building confidence, communication, creativity, resilience and independence every single day. 🌱

We are so proud of the warm, curious and enthusiastic environment the children help create together.

A reminder that Nursery will be closed tomorrow for our INSET day as staff take part in professional learning and development. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next week refreshed and ready for more adventures 💙

What another beautiful sunny day! ☀️

We’ve been making the most of the sunshine while being super careful to stay safe in the heat. Sun cream, shade, drinks and sensible outdoor play have all been part of our day! 💛

The sunny weather certainly brings lots of smiles and cheerful energy! Today we also took time to care for our environment by watering all of our plants and trees—because they need a drink in this weather too! 🌱🌼🌳

Such lovely opportunities for children to learn about caring for the world around them while enjoying the great outdoors.

✨ Gaelic at Springholm Nursery ✨

Our Gaelic sessions have been such a brilliant addition to nursery life, giving our children the opportunity to experience the rich language and culture of Scotland in such a fun, engaging way. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Over the past few sessions, the children have been singing songs, listening to stories, joining in with music and movement, and taking part in exciting games—all while being gently introduced to a beautiful part of Scotland’s heritage. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm, confidence and curiosity grow with each session.

At Springholm Nursery, we truly believe in providing children with meaningful, enriching experiences that broaden children’s understanding of the world around them, and these Gaelic sessions have done exactly that. Language learning at this age supports communication, listening skills, memory and confidence—but just as importantly, it helps children develop a sense of connection to the culture and traditions that shape the place we call home.

A huge thank you to Emily for leading these wonderful sessions with such warmth and enthusiasm. The children have absolutely loved every moment, and we are so grateful for the amazing experiences you have brought to our nursery 💙

Our STEM Adventures continue as we explore the incredible world of **Sir David Attenborough and the natural world**! 🌍🔎
Expect hands-on activities, curiosity, investigation and lots of exciting discoveries as we learn more about the amazing creatures and habitats around us. Perfect for little explorers aged 2+ with their grown-up!

Join us for songs, stories, rhymes and lots of fun at **Bookbug**! A lovely relaxed session to spark a love of books and language in little ones. All children attending should be accompanied by a grown-up.
