Defibrillators can save lives, but only if they’re working.

This Check Your Defib Week (15-21 June) we’re encouraging all Defib Guardians to help save more lives by ensuring their device is rescue-ready and accurately listed on The Circuit.

πŸ’š Volunteers' Week – Day 6 πŸ’š

We are more than just a uniform.

Behind every green uniform is a person with their own story, skills, experiences and reasons for volunteering.

We are parents, students, teachers, chefs, drivers, office workers and so much more. We come from different walks of life, but we share a common purpose: supporting our communities and helping others when they need it most.

Volunteering isn't just about what we do on duty. It's about the friendships we build, the experiences we share, the challenges we overcome and the difference we make together.

Today we're celebrating the people behind the uniform, the volunteers who give their time, energy and compassion to make St John Ambulance what it is.

This is us. πŸ’šπŸš‘

πŸ’š Volunteers' Week – Day 4 πŸ’š

Today we're celebrating the volunteers who spend their time out in the community sharing practical first aid skills and raising awareness of what to do in an emergency.

From CPR demonstrations to discussions around common first aid scenarios, these skills-based sessions help people feel more confident and prepared should they ever find themselves in a situation where someone needs help.

While we hope those skills are never needed, knowing even the basics can make a real difference.

We believe that the more hands that know what to do in an emergency, the more lives that could be saved.

By giving their time to support community events and awareness days, our volunteers are helping to build confidence, resilience and a willingness to step forward when it matters most.

This could be your year to volunteer.

πŸ’š Volunteers' Week – Day 3 πŸ’š

Today we're taking you behind the scenes for a day in the life of one of our First Aiders, HQT edition.

From the moment a volunteer signs on for duty, there's plenty happening behind the scenes. Kit checks, equipment preparation, supporting events, treating patients and working alongside fellow volunteers are all part of the role.

No two shifts are the same. Some days are busy, some days are quiet, but every duty provides an opportunity to learn, develop skills and make a difference in the community.

This is just one of the many volunteer roles within St John Ambulance, and it could be your year to volunteer.

πŸ’š Volunteers' Week – Day 2 πŸ’š

Today we're shining a spotlight on one of the many ways our volunteers support the community.

Throughout the year, our team works with schools, youth groups and community organisations, delivering first aid awareness sessions, demonstrations and interactive activities that help build confidence and lifesaving skills.

Whether it's introducing young people to first aid for the first time or inspiring the next generation of volunteers, every session is an opportunity to make a difference.

This could be your year to volunteer.

A huge thank you to the Northern Ireland Beaver Scout Team for their incredibly generous donation of Β£640 towards our Station Ambulance Fund.

Earlier this month, members of HQT were delighted to provide First Aid cover at Beaver Rally Day, helping to keep over 600 Beaver Scouts, Volunteers and Supporters safe while they enjoyed a fantastic day of adventure and activities.

We were absolutely overwhelmed to learn that the NI Beaver Scout Team had chosen to donate the equivalent of Β£1 per Beaver Scout in attendance to support our work. This kindness and generosity means so much to our Volunteers and will help us continue to maintain and equip our Ambulances for future community events and deployments.

It was a pleasure to support such a fantastic event, and we're incredibly grateful for the support shown to our unit in return.

Thank you for your generosity, your partnership, and for making a difference.
