Repair Café Carryduff

Repair Café Carryduff Repair Café Carryduff is a pop-up, volunteer led event that helps people get things fixed to save them from landfill.

We run events on the last Saturday of each month. Events will be advertised in advance on this page. The aim of the Repair Café is to create a community and encourage people to get things fixed that might otherwise lie unloved at the back of a cupboard or end up in landfill. The hope is that people will think about repairing and reusing things, instead of throwing them away. The kinds of things wh

ich might be fixable at a repair café include small electronics; simple computer problems; toys with broken wheels; torn clothes, missing buttons, broken zips; small items of furniture; bicycles; books; or other household items that you can carry on your own to the Repair Café. The Repair Café will run at various sites around Carryduff regularly throughout the year. Please bring along your items to our next event to get fixed and give them a second life! If you are interested in joining us, as a fixer, supporting the Café or just want to help in general please get in touch via email or Facebook messenger.

Repair cafes are all about the fixing - but our unsung heroes are the volunteers working away in the background to make sure the events happen at all!

From arranging venues to getting the word out, sorting out repair forms to bringing supplies - each local group has a small team of helpers taking care of the planning and preparation, so your repair cafe events run smoothly and everyone feels welcome. If you enjoy admin, organising, spreading the word and/or working with people - this is the perfect way for you to get involved in the repair cafes and contribute to your local community.

Contact your local group directly to find out more about what tasks they might need help with - Bangor Repair Cafe NI South Down Repair Cafe and Dromore Repair Cafe are especially looking to grow their organising teams right now!

☕ One of the best parts of a repair cafe? The delicious buns, cakes, and cookies to enjoy with a cuppa 🍥🍰

You might not think baking skills have a place at a repair event, but they absolutely do! Alongside the other volunteers, it’s the bakers and tea-makers who create that warm, welcoming atmosphere! 🧁 Every repair cafe needs its cafe crew 😊
