Look who’s doing absolutely amazing πŸ˜πŸ’œ Little Fodla is now enjoying car rides to the forest for walks with the pack πŸ• and loves to watch the sheeps out the window πŸ‘€

Recent donations were allocated towards some essentials for her stay with us, and some of our vet bill, but we still have a little left to pay- we will also need to get her spayed and have her booked in for her first groom next week 🚿🧼

We are a very small rescue, taking one collie at a time (more if we have foster carers). This is so we can pour in in the time and energy in helping them heal, train and get off to the best start in a home environment rather than kennels 🩡

We receive very little donations and we understand we are not a large rescue posting lots of little faces every day, so it can be harder to generate funds for the collies- such an overlooked, amazing breed.
We are always working from zero.

We need to raise another Β£350 to cover the last of our vet bill, the spay and groom. If you could help us by making even a small donation little Fodla would be very grateful! 🐾 πŸ’œ

πŸ’œ Fodla πŸ’œ

Our little princess Fodla (β€œFoe-lah”) has been doing amazing in such a short time. No accidents in the house since her first one, and we have gone from lead training in the garden to walkies around the local area.

Fodla is extremely intelligent, gentle and quiet - apart from a deep bark if she really wants something! Although quite nervous, she is eager to trust and craves affection. She loves coming over for little face rubs and just to stay close πŸ₯Ή

More to come on her soon- right now we just wanted to introduce her as we continue to spend lots of time with her, getting to know her a little better πŸ₯°

Isn’t she just lovely πŸ’œ

What a beautiful few days of sunshine we have had! As lovely as it is after months of rain, it is really important to remember our pets need us to keep them safe in the heat. Many dogs, like Summer here will seek shade and cool water, whereas Willow is a sun worshipper and would roast if we left her to her own devices!

If the ground feels too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws. Avoid walking during the hottest parts of the day and stick to early mornings or late evenings instead. Make sure they always have access to fresh water, shade, and a cool place to rest.

Heatstroke can happen very quickly and can be life-threatening. Signs to watch for include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, wobbliness, or collapse. If you are worried your dog may be overheating, contact your vet immediately.

Flat-faced breeds, older dogs, overweight pets, and dogs with health conditions are especially vulnerable in warm weather.

Please also remember:
🐾 Never leave dogs in cars, even for a few minutes
🐾 Keep exercise gentle and short
🐾 Cooling mats, paddling pools, and frozen treats can help keep them comfortable
🐾 Be mindful of hot pavements and artificial grass

Let’s keep our dogs safe and comfortable during this warm spell ❀️

Feel free to share your photos below of your dogs keeping safe in the sun ⬇️

Looking forward to welcoming this sweet girl πŸ’œ Little does she know her hard days will soon be over and we will find her the forever home she so deserves πŸ’•
We would love to find a foster- especially with a view to adopt when she’s ready. If you think this could be you please get in touch.
