🌿 GROUNDs DAY – WE NEED YOU! 🌿
Sunday 25th October | Silver Sapling Campsite, Silverdale | 10am–3pm

Leaders, families, girls… we’d really love your help.
Silver Sapling is looked after by a tiny committee, and without volunteers, many of the jobs simply won’t get done. This site belongs to ALL of us across Morecambe and Lancaster/Garstang — every Rainbow, Brownie, Guide, Ranger and Leader benefits from it. So this is our chance to give something back.

Even if you can spare just an hour, it genuinely makes a difference.
And yes… we’re bribing you with lunch 😄
Pulled chicken or pulled pork buns, cakes, hot drinks & refreshments.
(Vegan/veggie options available!)

What we’re tackling:
🌱 Clearing brambles, debris & fallen branches
🎨 Painting huts & washrooms
🪑 Covering picnic benches
🛠️ Prepping the new Night Line area
🌧️ Adding a rain shelter at Silver Birch toilets
…and lots of little jobs that keep the site beautiful for everyone.

Bring gloves, wear sturdy footwear, and park at the top by the huts.
Come as a Unit, bring your girls, bring your family — or just come yourself. Every helping hand counts.

You can simply turn up on the day, or message us at:

Thank you — truly — for supporting the site that supports all our girls. 💙

We are so lucky to have wonderful volunteers that help our site continually improve.

We have a team that is teaching other volunteers the time aged skill of building dry stone walls, this is a vital skill for our area, as walls are an essential part of rural living.

So far they have widened the gap between Silver Birch Feild and Helen's Feild to allow better access, this looks great

Now working along the wall, where trees have grown and roots have damaged the wall, time has also added to this being needed to be actioned.

We are looking forward to seeing the completed wall once it is done.

Introducing our new activity at the campsite for youth groups/schools and organisations - Our " Nightline"

Use your senses and teamworking skills to navigate through our specially built night line obstacle course. Your group will don blindfolds and navigate through a wide range of obstacles to put their skills to the test.

We were very fortunate to have been left a legacy donation by a local Guider and her family which has enabled us to do this project, we wouldn't have been able to do it without them.

This amazing installation was the hard work of the team at Technical Outdoor Solutions, we can't thank them enough for the problem solving and creative idea for the course.
Our helmets were donated by Lancaster Round Table, to make our course safe to take part in, again huge thanks to them.
The Wilson Trust has also donated funds to build some storage for the equipment for the course, yet to be facilitated.

Every Year we support No Mow May and this is why!

By letting grass and wildflowers grow, you provide vital nectar for pollinators and create crucial habitats for small insects.

How beautiful does our site look.

So we are looking to help you out if you are mulching trees this weekend and need somewhere to get rid of your chippings...

We would love to give them a new home at our newly built Nightline...( Assault course you do blindfolded)

We have been collecting from Woodland Nursery's but they are running low on fresh chippings, so we are reaching out.

WE NEED HELP!
We are very excited that our new Nightline ( assault course you do blindfolded) is now installed at the Campsite.

We can't wait to take bookings for it..

However before that we need to landscape the area to make it fully functional.

We are looking for Volunteers to come and help out with general clearing of fallen debris, cutting small brambles out the pathways, raking away anything in the courses path and tidying up.

If anyone is feeling to come on Tues afternoon this week from 1pm it would be really appreciated, we think it will just take a few more hours to get it ready for the decorative bark to be delivered.

Tea,coffee and biscuits provided for all.

We spent 3 hours today making a great start to the work.
