"Community Shed is a wonderful place, and we are really fortunate to have it in Carlisle. It is a lovely blend of being part of something and having an activity to take your mind off your troubles."

That is what people tell us. The making matters. But it is not really the point.

Community Shed is open to anyone. You do not need experience with woodworking. You do not need to explain why you are here. You just need to show up.

People come for all sorts of reasons. Some are dealing with loneliness or mental health difficulties. Some want to learn a new skill. Some just want company and conversation. Everyone is in the same room, working on the same things, drinking the same coffee. That is the whole idea.

Thursday is community project day at Community Shed. This was last week, where pallets became benches. Not bad for an afternoon’s work with good company.

Community Shed runs every week on Lorne Street, Carlisle. If you want to know more, get in touch with Chris on 07810 299755 or [email protected]
