Our endowment funds, each dedicated to a particular area of healthcare and managed by specialists in those areas, are used to develop research, treatment and patient care. Our appeals:

🌟 A heartfelt thank you to an inspiring young changemaker! 🌟

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Mathilda, who has been dedicating her time and talent to making a real difference for cancer patients 💙

As part of a school community initiative (similar to the Duke of Edinburgh Award), Mathilda chose to give back in a truly meaningful way. Inspired by her own family’s experience—with both of her grandfathers having faced cancer—she set to work sewing a wonderful collection of practical, comforting items for patients.

Each piece has been thoughtfully created to bring comfort and care to those going through treatment.

We’re delighted that these items have now been delivered to the Breast Centre at University Hospital Llandough, where the team were so grateful to receive them and know patients will really appreciate them.

Mathilda, your compassion, creativity, and dedication are truly inspiring. Thank you for making such a positive impact in our community 💙✨

Last December, Henry went from physiotherapist to patient after dislocating his collarbone.

With determination—and support from his team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board —he managed his own rehabilitation and avoided surgery.

Now, he’s turning that experience into something powerful. 💪

Henry is taking on Ironman Wales 2026 to raise funds for the Cardiff & Vale Health Charity, helping the physiotherapy department at UHW purchase specialist equipment to support patient recovery.

Every donation will help patients rebuild strength, mobility and confidence.

Ann’s Running the Cardiff Half in Memory of Her Brother 💙

Recently, Ann’s brother suffered a cardiac arrest. Thanks to the quick actions of those around him, his life was initially saved, but the fall caused a traumatic brain injury.
He went on to receive specialist care from the dedicated team at the University Hospital of Wales, where Ann saw first-hand the compassion, skill and commitment of NHS staff.

Sadly, Ann’s brother has since passed away. 💔

Throughout this incredibly difficult time, Ann has experienced just how vital these services are, not only for patients, but for their loved ones too.

In his memory, and to say thank you to the teams who cared for him, Ann has taken on the challenge of the Cardiff Half Marathon.

Through her fundraising, she hopes to help ensure others can continue to receive the same high-quality, life-saving care that meant so much to her family.
