THE NOMINATIONS ARE IN!

Im very excited to share the nominations for the Extra Miler Award for Newport Marathon Festival.
All of our volunteers go above and beyond and it does not go un-noticed, however these named people stood out on race day and have been nominated by their fellow volunteers or even a race participant! 🌟

And the winner is........
DAWN CLAYTON
Dawn was stationed at the Bag Drop and was part of the Newport Guides, Rangers and Young Adult group that volunteered for us. Being on the Bag Drop at Newport is no easy feat, with three races worth of bags to manage and tucked away from the racing atmosphere.
"Dawn was so helpful and friendly, her and the Guides were just great!"

- A keepsake glass coaster of Newport, highlighting the famous Transporter Bridge, an icon of the marathon.

I just want to say a HUGE thank you to all those who volunteered at the ABP Newport Marathon Festival on 19th April!!!

Over 200 of you came together to make sure the runners had the experience they deserve!!

We had lots of individuals as well as the following groups:
The Newport Girl Guides, Friends of Hong Kong, Gwent Police Cadets, Newport Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, RUNNewport & SheRuns.

It would not be possible without you all generously giving up your time and we appreciate every single one of you!!

The Extra Miler nomination winner will be announced tomorrow :)

Once again thank you and hope to see you at our next event, Barry Island 10k on May 17th

🚨 Marshals Needed – Exmoor X-Trail 🚨

We’re looking for enthusiastic marshals to support the Exmoor X-Trail on 2nd May 2026 🏃‍♂️🌿

📍 Start location: Lynton, North Devon
🕒 Various shifts available throughout the day

As a marshal, you’ll be positioned along the course helping guide runners and keeping them safe at key points like road crossings and trail junctions.

👉 Ideally, you’ll have access to a car and some experience on trail routes. Travel costs will be reimbursed.

🎁 In return, you’ll receive:

* £30 Pro Direct voucher
* FREE entry into any Maverick Race

All marshals will check in at Caffyns Farm for a short briefing before heading out to their assigned point.

Croeso to all the new Extra Milers joining us this month! Get ready for a great season of events, starting with Getpro Bath Half on March 15th and ending with Cardiff Half Marathon on Oct 4th.
Volunteer sign-up for Bath Half opens on Monday! We're looking for water station and course marshal support, as well as volunteers for the post-finish area and bag drop marquees.
