“It’s not often I’m able to say that out loud. ‘It’s Emrys’ Mam.’”

Emrys’ life was just eight days. But those eight days made Luke and Gwenno parents, and they are incredibly proud to be his Mam and Dad.

After Emrys passed away, Tŷ Hafan was there to support his family, practically and emotionally. Today, they regularly visit our memorial garden, where Emrys has a special place and where his name continues to be spoken.

This Baby Loss Awareness Week, we’re remembering Emrys and every much-loved baby who has died too soon🕯️

However short a child’s life, their story and their name will always matter. And no family should have to navigate this journey alone 💚

Today marks the start of Baby Loss Awareness UK Week, where we stand with families across Wales and beyond who’ve experienced the heartbreak of pregnancy and baby loss.

The week brings communities together to offer a safe and supportive space for anyone touched by pregnancy and baby loss. It’s a time to share experiences, break the silence, and remind families that they are not alone.

During , we honour every baby who has died and every family who carries their memory.

We can’t stop seriously unwell babies from dying, but with your help, we can walk alongside every family who needs us 💚

“Men often carry their grief quietly.”

When your child’s life will be short, there is no rulebook for how you’re supposed to cope.

For some dads, talking about the fear, responsibility and grief they’re carrying can feel incredibly difficult.

That’s why our Family Support Worker Dan creates spaces where dads can just be. A coffee, a rugby or football meet-up, a chat with someone who understands, or simply the chance to say nothing at all.

For dad Ian, whose five-year-old son William died from cancer, that support made a huge difference. Ian shared, “Before I met Dan, I didn’t have any support. Those conversations got me through the final weeks and prepared me for what came next.”

This , we’re shining a light on the support that happens beyond clinical care. Because no dad, and no family, should have to face this alone.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all our incredible runners who took on the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday! 🏃

We’re beyond grateful that over 550 (yes, you read that correctly, 550!) of you chose to . We were absolutely filled with pride cheering every one of you along the route.

But it’s not just about the running. It’s the stories behind every step, the community that comes together and the shared purpose that pushes you all the way to that finish line.

And together, you’ve raised an absolutely AMAZING £185,800 and counting! 🤯

Your incredible fundraising will help us be there for more children and families, helping make sure that no family has to live their child’s short life alone 💚

Cardiff Half Marathon runners, this one's for you! 📣

Cardiff City Football Club star Joel Bagan wants to wish everyone taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon tomorrow a massive 'GOOD LUCK', with an extra-special shoutout to our Tŷ Hafan runners, including his mum, Chrissie! 💚

Chrissie first heard about Tŷ Hafan after Joel visited the hospice with his Cardiff City teammates Ollie Tanner, Perry Ng and Andy Rinomhota at Christmas 2024.

Chrissie says that what Joel shared about his visit, and in particular meeting a family receiving bereavement support, really resonated with her, as she herself works in a hospice.

Now she's taking on 13.1 miles to support children and families in Wales.

Good luck, Chrissie, good luck Team Tŷ Hafan, and good luck to every single person taking part tomorrow! 🙌

“I just want to give something back.”

This Sunday, Sam is running the Cardiff Half Marathon for Tŷ Hafan, which supports his two-year-old daughter Liwsi, her mum Zoe, dad Sam and big sister Alys.

For Sam and his family, Tŷ Hafan is somewhere they feel they belong. A place where they can relax without judgement, spend time together and have people alongside them who understand the realities of caring for a child with complex needs.

That’s why Sam decided he wanted to give something back 💚

Training hasn’t always been easy. He’s juggled running with shift work, family life and supporting Liwsi with her daily needs, as well as battling three calf injuries along the way.

But he’s kept going, and this Sunday he’ll join almost 600 incredible runners taking on 13.1 miles through Cardiff.

Sam, we’re incredibly proud to have you on our team and we’ll all be there cheering you on! 🙌
