This Children's Hospice Week, we've joined with Hope House & Tŷ Gobaith in calling for system-wide change to stop families of children with life-threatening conditions across Wales needing to “fight” for help.
Families from both hospices have made their voices heard in our Family Voices 2 report, which has been launched today at Cardiff Bay with the help of Daniel’s mum and dad, Catherine and Jonathan, Alaw's mum, Ffion, and Thomas's sister, Emily, our Welsh Youth Parliament representative.
The report reveals families in Wales are being “pushed to the limits” as they struggle to access the care and support they need and makes clear that solutions are within reach, but this requires coordinated action from the Welsh Government, NHS, local authorities and the children’s hospices.
Irfon Rees, our Chief Executive, said, “We hope people will read this report with the seriousness it deserves and join us in turning what families have told us into real, sustained improvement.
“We are deeply grateful to every parent, carer, child and young person who shared their experience with us for Family Voices 2. Sharing takes time and courage, especially when life is already so full. Family voices matter, and they must shape what happens next.”
