Behind greyhound racing lies a story most people never see — one of suffering, secrecy, and systemic neglect.

The Secret Lives of Greyhounds is an investigative documentary exploring the lives of greyhounds bred and raced, exposing a pipeline of exploitation at the heart of an industry now facing worldwide condemnation.

Featuring exclusive undercover footage and expert testimony, the film challenges the legitimacy of greyhound racing and asks whether its future can be justified at all.

This free screening at The Avenue Theatre is a collaboration between Shut Down Campaigns activists and Animal Aid, and offers the opportunity to see the documentary and participate in a Q&A session with documentary contributors.

Sittingbourne is home to one of only 15 licensed greyhound racetracks that remains active in England. Find out why members of your community are fighting to close it.

The Secret Lives of Greyhounds contains footage of dogs in pain and distress. Viewer discretion is advised.

This is a FREE event, but a ticket is required to attend. Places are limited, so please register for a free ticket. Please bring your ticket confirmation email with you on the day.

SHUT DOWN CENTRAL PARK! PROTEST, SATURDAY 17/10/26

We said it loud, we said it clear: DOG RACING'S NOT WELCOME HERE!

As the animal abusers and their lackeys arrived for their evening's entertainment, East Kent Animal Action and their supporters gave them a suitably noisy welcome. Many tried to laugh it off, but they were very clearly rattled by the size and volume of this demonstration. Here's what they need to understand: this is just the start. These protests are going to get bigger, louder and more disruptive. We're not interested in waiting for the law to change, or for the council, who will inevitably reclaim the site when the lease expires in a couple of years time. We want this place shut down NOW.

And that is exactly what we're going to do.

JOIN US ON SATURDAY 🔥🔥🔥

Kent Greyhound Rescue is an anti-greyhound racing charity.

Our aim is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome unwanted and abandoned greyhounds and lurchers.

Greyhound racing is often marketed as a fun night out but the image presented is far removed from the reality of the industry.

For every greyhound who enters the racing world, there are many others who do not make the grade, are injured, discarded, or lose their lives simply because there are too many dogs and not enough homes.

These dogs deserve more than to be used for entertainment. They deserve safety, kindness, comfort, and a life beyond racing.

Whilst we are strongly anti-racing, we are not a campaigning organisation. However, we support groups such as East Kent Animal Action in their efforts to raise awareness and campaign against the dog racing industry.

On Saturday, East Kent Animal Action will be holding a demonstration against greyhound racing in Kent.

Every voice helps speak up for the dogs who cannot speak for themselves.

SHUT DOWN CENTRAL PARK PROTEST, SATURDAY 17TH OCTOBER, 3PM

Join us outside the gates of Central Park stadium as we call time on this cruel sport. Central Park is Kent's last remaining greyhound stadium, and one of only 15 remaining in England. Wales and Scotland have both recently announced bans on greyhound racing, but Westminster is dragging its heels. There is no place in our society for this kind of exploitation and abuse, so until our government decides to catch up with the rest of the civilised world, we need to get out on the streets and make our feelings crystal clear.

📍 Meet near Woodcoombe Sports & Social club, Church Rd, Murston, Sittingbourne ME10 3RT
