Artists' Collecting Society

Artists' Collecting Society ACS is the premium collecting society for the administration of the Artist’s Resale Right (ARR).

The Artists’ Collecting Society (ACS) is the only Community Interest Company dedicated to the collection of the Artist’s Resale Right (ARR), or droit de suite, and copyright on behalf of artists and artists’ estates in both the UK and the EU. ARR is a royalty generated on the sale price of original works of art that are sold on the secondary market and it applies to all artists who are EU citizens

. ACS was set up by Harriet Bridgeman (founder of Bridgeman Images) in response to requests from artists, dealers, auction houses and galleries who recognised the need for a transparent, fair and professional collecting society that puts artists’ needs first. Harriet Bridgeman’s experience, knowledge and passion for art ensured ACS was created ‘for the love of art’. ACS represents over 1,000 artists and artists’ estates including painters, sculptors, photographers, designers, and artists working in glass and ceramics. Our members range from well-known artists such as Frank Auerbach, Howard Hodgkin, Paula Rego and Martin Creed, to estates of important artists such as Lucian Freud and Barbara Hepworth. We are also proud to represent artists whose work has only recently started to sell regularly on the UK secondary market such as Bambi, Goshka Macuga and Eine.

'John Riddy: Winter Landscape', ACS member John Riddy’s ongoing solo showcase is on display at Frith Street Gallery, Golden Square, London until next week.

The exhibition presents a new series of photographs of London that mark a departure from the artist’s earlier depictions of the city. Whilst previous works focused on architecture and unpopulated spaces, 'Winter Landscape' introduces figures and movement, capturing everyday scenes and offering a broader view of life in the city.

‘In Transit: Greek Artists Abroad’, a group exhibition featuring work by ACS member Irini Bachlitzanaki, is now on display at the Hellenic Centre in Marylebone.

Bringing together the work of nine Greek artists, all of whom have worked abroad, the exhibition considers how living between countries and away from one's place of origin can shape artistic practice. Through sculpture and installation, the works reflect on experiences of relocation, distance and cultural exchange, exploring how ideas of home and belonging shift over time.

There is still time to view 'Ancient Form | Modern Vision' on display at Willoughby Gerrish, featuring works by ACS member Emily Young.⁣

The exhibition considers how ancient sculpture has continued to inform modern and contemporary British practice. Tracing the dialogue between early artefacts from the Bronze Age and the Roman period to the twentieth- and twenty-first-century approaches to form, material, and abstraction. The works on display reflect a shared interest in how fragments of the past continue to shape present ways of seeing and making.⁣

'Land, Sky, Light: New Landscapes by David Dawson' is now on show at Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury, presenting a solo exhibition of new work by the ACS member and director.⁣

The exhibition brings together fifteen large-scale paintings of the Montgomeryshire landscape in Wales. Begun en plein air, then reworked in the artist’s London studio and finally returned to the Welsh countryside to be completed, the paintings reflect a long-standing engagement with the landscape of Dawson's childhood, exploring shifting light, atmosphere and solitude through closely observed views of the natural world.⁣

'Egg', a solo exhibition of work by ACS member Flora Yukhnovich, is currently on show at Victoria Miro Venice.

The exhibition brings together a new series of paintings that explore the narratives of transformation and conception that underpin many common myths and fairy tales. Examining the tension between storytelling and the lived experience, Yukhnovich’s new body of work considers how recurring motifs shift and reappear across art through rhythm, variation and repetition. Installed against a site-specific wall painting, the works respond to one another, extending the dialogue across the exhibition.

ACS member Poppy Field has co-authored a new publication, 'Drawing in Space: Theory and Practice of Figurative Sculpture', alongside fellow sculptor Robert Bodem.

Developed from Bodem’s teaching at The Florence Academy of Art, where Field trained after studying at The Courtauld, the 248-page illustrated hardback offers a practical guide to sculpting the figure from life. Combining technical instruction with discussion of process and observation, the book explores the principles that underpin contemporary figurative sculpture.
