Many people in Ukraine will celebrate Easter this Sunday. Easter in Ukraine is full of flavour, meaning, and connection 🐣✨

We’re sharing what our volunteers put into their Easter baskets — some things are the same across the whole country, while others change from region to region, telling their own local story.

From P***a to homemade treats, it’s all about tradition, community, and sharing something made with love 🤍

On 11 April, at Borshch Time in Cambridge, we mark the beginning of a new collaboration between and — a UK-registered charity delivering ambulances and humanitarian aid directly to Ukraine 🤝

Ukraine Time is a Cambridge-based community initiative creating culturally safe spaces for Ukrainians and for those who engage with Ukraine with respect: through culture, language, shared experiences and community gatherings.

What started as a conversation is now becoming a shared direction for 2026.

Through Borshch Time and future initiatives, this collaboration brings together community, culture and meaningful support — connecting people in Cambridge with real impact in Ukraine.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate today 🐣🌿Easter in the UK and Ukraine may look similar at first glance — eggs, family, spring. But the meaning and rhythm behind it are different.

In the UK, Easter arrives with a long weekend.
In Ukraine, there is no day off on Good Friday and for many, especially during the war, not even on Easter Monday. Yet preparation begins weeks in advance and continues right up to the celebration.

Homes are cleaned, recipes are planned, dough is kneaded, and baskets are carefully assembled — each detail carries meaning, not just decoration.

In the UK, Easter often revolves around children — playful, bright, full of games and treats.
In Ukraine, it centres around family, shared meals, and a deep connection to nature and tradition.

And yet, today many Ukrainian families are separated and cannot gather around one table. Still, the tradition lives on — across distance, in memory, in care for one another.

It is not just a celebration that comes, it is something people consciously create. 🤍

Egg painting, or pysankarstvo, is one of the most beautiful Ukrainian Easter traditions 🐣🪻
We spent such a calm, magical afternoon creating our own pysanky 🥚each detail slow, thoughtful, and almost meditative.

So grateful to .rychok for guiding us so gently through the process 💛✨

🔸 Anna .life.bees — runs the dining hall like a boss, lives by her checklists, prints everything, and somehow still finds time to upgrade everyone’s experience ✨

🔸 Oksana — our entertainment queen 🎉 raffles, auctions, promo… if there’s fun involved, she’s behind it (and yes, she finds all the goodies too 👀)

🔸 Stas — the tech guy AND bowl-serving machine… sound, video, interviews + casually carrying 10 bowls like it’s nothing 💪

🔸 Olena — baking magic into reality and then personally serving it to you 🍰

Just a little reminder: there’s a whole team of amazing humans behind every event 💛
