POV: you came to POP Performers and found your main character energy 💁‍♀️

This evening was full of big ideas, brilliant characters, lots of laughs and young people getting to express themselves exactly as they are.

Because confidence doesn’t always start with standing centre stage.

Sometimes it starts with feeling safe enough to be a little bit silly.
To have a go.
To strike the pose. 🕺
And to realise… actually, I can do this.

That’s what POP is all about. 🩵🩷

How do we support every young person at POP? 💗

We keep our groups small, with a maximum of 12 young people, supported by trained tutors and DBS-checked volunteers.

But meaningful inclusion is about more than numbers. We take the time to get to know each young person, understand what helps them feel comfortable and make sure they feel seen, celebrated and appreciated.

Our aim is simple: to create a safe, supportive environment where young people can build confidence, be creative and express themselves in a way that feels right for them.

What happens when a young person loves performing…but the usual performing arts environment just doesn't work for them?

Too often, they simply stop.

We saw that happening again and again.

Young people with creativity, humour, imagination and so much to offer were missing out, not because they couldn't do it, but because the environment wasn't working for them.

So we created something different.

POP Collective is a place to create, build confidence, make connections and be yourself.

We have been keeping something very exciting under wraps… 💛

POP Collective has been awarded three years of funding from BBC Children in Need

When we started POP, we knew there were so many young people who wanted to be creative but didn't always feel there was a space designed with them in mind.

This funding means we can reach more young people, develop our inclusive sessions and build the kind of creative community we dreamed about when POP began.

We are incredibly excited about what comes next.

And we're only just getting started. 💗

What a week! 🏆💜

Over three incredible days, across three different venues, we met so many amazing children and young people, all bringing their creativity, energy and enthusiasm as they competed to win the coveted POP Cup!

From performances and challenges to teamwork, laughter and new friendships, every session reminded us exactly why POP exists: to create spaces where every young person can belong, grow in confidence and have the freedom to be themselves.

A huge thank you to every child, family, volunteer and supporter who made this week so special. We loved every minute of it.

Now… bring on September! We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for our weekly sessions, meet some new faces, and continue building our amazing POP community.

💜 Why I Started POP Collective

People often ask me why I started POP Collective.

The answer is simple. Over the years, I’ve met so many incredible young people who are creative, kind and full of potential, but who don’t always feel like they fit into traditional activities. Some struggle with anxiety, some have SEND, some have lost confidence, and some are simply looking for somewhere they can truly be themselves.

I wanted to create a place where performing arts is about so much more than putting on a show. A place where young people can build confidence, make genuine friendships, express themselves creatively and know they belong.

That’s why POP exists.

Seeing this dream become a reality has been an incredible journey, and I honestly can’t wait to welcome our first POP families this summer and in September.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. Your encouragement means more than you know. 💜

At POP Collective, we believe creativity should be for everyone. Every child deserves to feel welcomed, valued, encouraged, and celebrated exactly as they are.

Whether they're finding their confidence, making new friends, expressing themselves through the arts, or simply discovering a place where they can be themselves, that's what we're here for.

Because when young people feel they belong, they don't just perform…
They thrive. ✨

For the child who wants to join in… but isn’t quite sure how yet.

Not every young person feels comfortable walking into a new activity.

Some need a little more reassurance.
Some need a little more time.
Some need a space where they can simply be themselves.

POP Collective’s Summer Workshops have been created for young people aged 8-18 who love being creative, including those with SEND, anxiety, low confidence, or anyone who would benefit from a supportive environment.

There are no auditions.
No pressure to perform.
Just a warm welcome, small groups, creative activities, and experienced staff who understand that every child is different.
